Herb says: I bought the car new in Nov . of 68 and it had 4 stages of use to present. It was the family car and raced occasionally in at that time was pure stock. Based on factory H.P. and advertised wieght. This was later replaced by E.T. bracket racing. After putting on some 130,000 miles it was getting a little tired so my son and me replaced the 383 with a 440 and a reverse shift pattern 727. It was at this time made into a trailered drag car. Dragway in Cayuga ran a Firestone/centerline points programme and after the last race the top 8 in points in 4 classes qualified to represent the track at Maple Grove in Reading P.A. Our first year 1980 we missed out but did make it in 81 82 83 and 85. The car was painted candy apple red and was named The Quarter Flash. Best E.T. was 11.60 @ 114mph The car was at its limit and would require major rear suspension and body work . We retired it to storage while we tried our hand at the very expensive Pro Mod racing and I won't go there. In 97 I got P.O. with racing and decided to restore it and try the cruise circuit. Well there was a little more than I had planned and did'nt make it out for 98. I am still working on it and things are starting to shape up. One thing I learned is it is a lot easier to strip a car down that it is to rebuild it when the parts are 30 years old. But with the help of my Mopar friends it is possible.
pics of the many changes are below...the grey without stickers are first ..then with stickers...then red ...then red with stickers, roll cage etc..then just red with a black hood...We gotta give this old warrior a big round of applause for pounding the pavement to help form mopar race history and its still around to tell the tale...ALRIGHT !!
