WELCOME TO FORDMAN'S GALLERY OF PICS
This is a page displaying my home brew adapter to remote mount the tfi, and my intent is to mount it on a heat sink in the air box. I took a bad tfi, removed the cover, and back plate along with the internals. Sawed off the front harness connector. Plucked the 3 top terminals out with plyers, and used an 1/8 drill and drilled down thru the old location of the top 3 terminals, plus 3 new holes for the wires to exit. I cut a 16 gage plate of mild steel for a new back, welded a short bolt to it, to pass the center top terminal to then on out for a ground. I crimped spade terminals on 16 gage wires, fed them thru the top holes, seating them like the old ones, anf fed the front and rear terminals out the exit holes, and the center went to the ground tap, then out the exit hole. Fill it with a good 2 part epoxy. I used a weatherpac connector like GM uses, but you can use whatever you want. Now, if you do not want this much trouble, my emergency tfi adapter schematic will work as a remote adapter too.

This project will not only increase the life of the tfi, but it will be easier to replace upon any failure.
