DIAGNOSTIC CODES AND WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Here is the lowdown on diognostic codes for the EEC-4 system, and I have left some codes out. If you get a code that is not listed e-mail me and I will look it up. Also be aware that a common mistake during code retrieval is failing to warm up the engine as this sets 'ghost codes' such as coolant sensors, and O2 sensors. Another common error is the 'dynamic response' when getting codes. This is a driver action during diognostics to test some components, like nailing the throttle to floor and releasing it (testing the TPS) pushing the brakes (testing the brake switch), and turning the steering wheel (testing the power steering switch). After the codes I have a list of the abbreviations used. Also you should get an 11, then a 10, then another 11 if all is well. The first 11 means no memory codes have been set. The 10 is a separator code, then the second 11 means no codes are present at this time. The first codes will be errors in the past, and the second codes are currently happening.

These codes are not the complete list, as this list is geared more toward the Ford Ranger. It is fairly generic towards all Fords, so if you get a code you cannot find here, E-mail me and I will find it for you.
