Brake Light Stencil (PART 2)

After the third panel is removed you will be able to gain access to the light. Unplug the white wiring harness. There are three screws attaching the lighting bracket to the trunk lid. Remove all three screws (note that the break light is grounded out on the middle screw). Now you are able to completely take the lighting bracket down.

Now that you have the lighting bracket down you will be able to cut the poster board to the shape of the rear tail light. I don't have an exact measurements of what size it should be. All I did was cut the poster board a little wide and gradually cut it down more and more until it slid down in front of the break light. Then just trim the top off to the top edge of the stencil to the height of the brake light. Now that you have the stencil completely cut out, spray paint it black (flat or gloss will do) and use some spray glue (3M was the brand I used, it's good stuff) to spray on the back (make sure you spray the back side and not the front or you will stick it on backwards) and stick it to the break light. BUT!!! before spraying the glue on you might want to put the stencil in the lighting bracket screw it to the trunk lid to test it and make sure no excess light it coming through the outside edges.

After that, all that is left is screwing back up the lighting bracket without forgetting to connect the ground to the center screw of the three holding it up and connecting the white wiring harness back together and reattaching all interior trunk lid panels. Reattach the panels in the opposite order they were taken off. Everything should just snap right back in place.
