1968 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu 327

I bought this car in September 1998. It was stock, in fair shape and could be used as a daily driver. First some features of this car like it was when I bought it.

• Chevelle Malibu
• butternut yellow with black vinyl top (repainted but as original)
• black interior with bucket seats
• added 3-gauge autometer set (oil pres, water temp & amps)
• 225 x 60/15 front and 255 x 60/15 back tyres on chrome Cragar rims
• number matching 327 engine with chrome valve covers and air filter
• 3-speed (probably TH350) trans with console shift
• 10 bolt rear end
• front disc brakes

The next 4 photo's where made more recently in the fall of 1999. They were taken at the International Racecircuit of Zandvoort, The Netherlands, where I live very closeby. Maybe in 2001 we will have a Formula 1 GP!

The car was mostly stock exept the trans, which was originally a Powerglide, the autometer set of course and probably the rear end. I still have to check this. When I bought this car I have had build in a 85 liter IMCO LPG installation for the sake of fuel costs. In the time I have this car I did some repairs/upgrades. Some where nessacary, some just to upgrade the car.

• new power brake set
• head job; new seals. The car uses a lot of oil (about 1 liter/400 km) and produces smoke at full trottle and foot loose at speed. This was problaby not the problom because the oil consumption has not improved. It seems that it mostly comes from the drivers side. So I think I'm looking at a complete engine overhaul.
• new wiper motor
• new bearing for alternator (front)
• new thermal thing (how do you call this?) for fan
• new starter motor
• new 60 Amp one-wire alternator
• new sparkplug cables and plugs

I have planned some upgrades for the future but like with most car enthousiasts it depends on the financial side. Future plans incorporate:

• New ZZ4 crate engine
• Weiand 144 supercharger
• TH700R4 tranny (I would love to have that overdrive)
• American Racing Outlaw II wheels
• Rear-end to posi-traction, 12 bolt
• Headers with Flowmasters
• Stainless steel exhaust
• New paint job (original butternut yellow) and new vinyl roof covering

Further more some small stuff like a new dash, new seat stuffing etc. I will keep you posted about things I have done. Like I said before, it is all a question of money. These plans will remain a dream from some time I think, because first I have to finish the Jeep project for my girlfriend.
