IP ADDRESSING CONFIGURATION

Cisco 3640 Router.

The Cisco 3640 Router will be our WAN connection.  The S0 interface will have an IP address of 10.37.1.2 and subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.  This IP scheme will match all other satellite schools attached to the Administration Backbone, it will also allow future Telecom circuits to be added to the same subnet without major reconfiguration of  the router.  Although the IP range for this link is substantial, it will allow flexibility with the ISP and main campus to upgrade the internet connection.

The E0 interface will be our LAN backbone, and will have an IP address scheme from the 10.37.2.0 255.255.255.0 network.  This will allow the ease of future networking equipment to be installed without any major network outages.

This interface will be connected to a 10/100 BaseT port on the 2948 Switch/Router.

This port will be configured as 100, full duplex.

Cisco 2948 L3 Configuration.

The Cisco 2948 L3 is a 48 port switch with built in router.  This router will do all the routing between the WAN VLAN, Network/Faculty VLAN, Students VLAN and the Server VLAN. The first 4 ports will be set for 100 Base T full duplex on VLAN 2 and connected to the Fast Ethernet port on the Cisco 3640 WAN router.  The next 8 ports will be assigned to VLAN 3 witch will have an IP scheme of 10.37.3.0 network, all network equipment and faculty PC will be connected to this VLAN.  Also connected to this VLAN in truncated ports will be the two switches from Building A West and Multi-Purpose building via fiber, and copper from the portable classrooms.  The switches from Building A West, Multi-Purpose building and the portable classrooms will have truncated ports for VLAN 3 and 4 coming back to the 2948 L3 via the two Gig Ethernet fiber GBIC’s  and any of the next 12 copper 10/100 Base T ports for the classrooms.

all ports for VLAN 3 and 4 will be truncated to provide network connection to Building A West, and the Multi-Purpose building via fiber, and the portable classrooms will be 100 Base T, Full duplex copper.

We chose the place all servers in the Building A East MDF due to security, ease of access and climate control, also for network security purpose all servers will be in one subnet.  VLAN 5 10.37.5.0 network and the last 24 ports will be configured as 100 Base T, full duplex.

In the IDF’s of Building A West, and the Multi-Purpose building will only have 2980G’s with the uplink Gbic truncated back to the Gbic’s in the 2948 L3.  They will be configured with two VLAN’s, the main one being in the Network/Faculty VLAN and the second VLAN as the Students.
