“Multi Class”#97
Pit Crew: Dad
I’m 29 and a Elementary school teacher at Lincoln Elementary School in Marion, Illinois.
I have a wonderful and supportive wife, Amanda who lets me do this crazy thing called “Racing”.
Other hobbies include hunting, fishing, and welding.
I began racing in the “B” Class in 1997. In 1998 we won our track championship.
I moved up to the AA Singles class in 1989 and continued racing 250’s through the 1990 season.
In 1991 my father and I built a 600 car in our shop. We won several races with this chassis,
finishing 2nd in track points in 1992.
In 1993, my father bought a “B” car to race himself, so I decided to purchase my own 125 car and race with him.
We were best buddies in the pits and worst enemies on the track. It was great ! After experiencing so much success,
my dad decided to try a 600 in 1994. After several spin-outs, he elected to turn the wheel over to me for the remainder of the year.
In 1997, my father and I met car builder, Broderick Burke of Brodrix Chassis in Robards, Kentucky.
We purchased one of his cars and ran wingless during the 97 season. We won a ton of races with this car.
This chassis was unlike anything I had ever experienced. It worked ! We purchased another Brodrix Chassis
in 1998 and the success continued running in the A Class. We won numerous races during the course of the 1998 season.
We finished the year 2nd at S.I.R., 2nd in Region 2, and 14th nationally.
This year I decided to go back to the 600 Multi Class. With a brand new Brodrix Chassis and FTZ powered F-2 Honda,
our success has continued. At this point, we have won 2 trophy dashes, several heat/ transfer races and 4 feature wins,
including the Illinois State race at S.I.R. and the Eastern Championship at Coles Co. Speedway, Charleston, Illinois
this past July 3rd and 4th.I’m very fortunate to have so many good people behind me. Without them I would not be racing.
A huge thanks to my wife for putting up with me, my mom and dad for their support and enthusiasm over the years,
Broderick Burke of Brodrix Chassis for an incredible race car and for his willingness to share racing knowledge,
Ramsey Concrete Products, SIR Redimix and Tison Hall concrete products, and FTZ motors. Thanks guys,
you make it happen !
