Further Information

What better name for a sport truck than SS? A Chevy tradition since 1961, SS is short for Super Sport, The Bowtie Divisions way of adding get up and go plus hot looks.

Performance comes from the 195 horspower 4.3 litre V6 that is so hot it requires a special name, Vortec, which is emblazoned into the top of the air intake plenum.

Hot looks are added with 15" cast aluminum wheels with bright centre caps, a unique front grill painted body color, and fog lamps mounted in the front air dam. To warn the curious, SS comes with red "Bowtie" badges incorperating SS on the doors and tailgate, a red "Bowtie" on the grill and hubcaps, and red "Chevrolet" badging on the tailgate.

With the required 4-speed electronic overdrive transmission and 3.42:1 limited slip rear axle ratio, Chevy's SS sport truck zips from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in less than 8 seconds and storms through the quater mile in the low 16's at about 142 km/h. That's moving for a truck that'll handle twisties and carry a load, thanks to its specially tuned SS suspension that includes massive P215/66R15 series tires, heavy duty shocks, stiffer spring rates, and a larger 1.16" diameter front anti-roll bar. Front disc brakes and rear drums are standard with ABS.

With sports trucks hotter than sports cars on America's highways, it was only a matter of time before Chevrolet applied its SS magic to their popular S-10 series.*

My thoughts on this model:

I found this model better than the 1995 Blazer LS, I say this because they are both pretty much the same model except for the body. The body fits together better than the Blazer. But, the instructions are a bit vague.
