Further Information

Mike Skinner is a California native who won three track Championships driving stock cars on the West Coast, before moving to the East Coast, and into major league stock car racing. After showing some promise in several races, Mike got a big break from Richard Childress Racing, when he was chosen to drive the GM Goodwrench Chevrolet in a brand new, high profile truck series. It's easy to see why this program is so popular. What could be more American than a big, V8 powered pickup?

Skinner made the most of his opportunities, as he became the inaugural Champion of the Super Truck Series by Craftsman Tools. This model depicts Skinner's 1995 entry.

This beauty was built in the shop of six-time Champion owner Richard Childress. GM "Mr. Goodwrench" Performance Parts and service has backed his Chevrolets in competition for over a decade. This is a truck body fitted to a successful race car tube frame chassis. Even though a truck cockpit is shorter than that of a race car, the driver sits more upright, offering plenty of room. The engine is nearly identical to that used in championship stock cars: a 258 cubic inch, single-cam V8 built on a stock, factory engine block. The carburator is a 750 cfm Holley 4 bbl., and although compression is limited to 9.5:1, the entire powerplant will develop close to seven hundred horsepower!

This model wears the famous black-and-silver Goodwrench Chevrolet colors. The body will lift off to reveal a modern front-steer speedway chassis, with single shock suspension, belt-driven oil recirculation pump for both engine and rear end, inboard mounted oil tank, engine oil cooler and complete cab with Butler Built contoured driver's seat. Further detail's include engine ignition wiring and interior roll bar padding.*

My thoughts on this model:

This model is really cool, looks just like the real thing! The frame is awsome once painted orange and put together perfect.
