Construction continues at the new 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Musco lighting has gone in, and the paving is done. The lighting system included 2600 individual light fixtures, 175 miles of wire, 1975 tons of concrete and 1.5 miles of mirrors. It took 52 trailer-trucks to bring it all in. When turned on, the sytem will produce 3.1 billion candlepower.

The first stop of the Second Annual Kyle Petty Charity Ride Accross America was Las Vegas. Kyle and other Winston Cup drivers started from San Fransisco the day after the Sears Point race. Tuesday morning the riders had breakfast on the backstrech of the speedway. Here, Kyle is posed on his Harley Davidson on the tri-oval of the track.
