1996 Cobra
Well after always being on the back end of technology, I figured Id step up to the plate and see what the new stuff was all about. I found this Cobra in AZ, it was owned by a doctor and only had 9,000 miles on it. We struck a deal over the phone, I bought the car sight unseen, and he had the car delivered to me in CA.
For anyone who is visiting me from the Corral, this is the reason I use the "REEWRD" handle. When I got the car, the AZ plates said "REEWRD." I thought it was a cool plate, so when I registered the car in CA, I kept the "REEWRD" plate. Ive been using it as my handle ever since.
I have to admit I always wanted a Cobra. There was just something about it, I really dont know why. I spent about a year with this car, and I loved every minute of it. The car was quite a technological leap from the 5.0s Id become accustomed to.
Unfortunately the thrill of technology quickly wore off, and I found out I was just a die hard gear head at heart. I couldnt wrench on the Cobra, and that was killing me. Plus I knew that a heavy convertible Cobra was the wrong car to build. It could never match the HP of a pushrod Ford for the money invested.
I did take it to the track once. It ran a 14.1@102MPH. Ok, it was hardly a street machine, but not bad for a heavy mostly stock convertible Cobra. I ended up selling it and committed myself to building the little 88 Coupe.
The Cobra had the following modifications :
Caster Camber Plates
FMS Springs
Konis
Subframe connectors
Borla Exhaust
K&N Filter
Light Bar
