1999 TRACK RULES

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. The rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publications of or compliance with these rules and/or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official. The track officials shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications or impose any further restrictions that, in their opinion, do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from such altercation of specifications. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials.

Entry Fee: Admission to restricted (pit) areas is an entry fee, this is not an admission for entertainment. Track official's decisions are final. We cannot make the rules to fit everyone's needs or desires; so if you run, be willing to go by the rules outlined here. The track officials will determine all penalties to be applied to anyone who violates these rules.


PIT RULES

The pit area is a restricted area set aside for the preparation of the race cars in competition. Each driver, owner or mechanic shall sign a release and purchase a pit pass before entering the pit area. Each driver will be held responsible for the conduct of each member of his team. Violators as determined by track officials will be subject to disqualification or suspension.

Smoky Mountain Raceway, Inc. reserves the right to refuse admittance to the pit area to any person considered to be unqualified or detrimental to the sport of auto racing.

Anyone found guilty of letting another person use their pit pass will be subject to disqualification or suspension. In the event of a rain out you will use your pit pass as a rain check for the next event. If you are injured, please notify an official of Smoky Mountain Raceway, Inc. immediately for proper medical attention.

You are expected to know the rules and abide by them. Ignorance of the rules will not be accepted as an excuse.

GENERAL RULES AND CONDUCT

Smoky Mountain Raceway, Inc. is private property. Through your admission ticket you have been given authority and the right to be on this property in conjunction with racing activities. However, the management reserves the right to revoke and cancel this right at any time it is felt that your presence or conduct is not in the best interest of the sport of auto racing, your fellow competitors or the fans. We expect courteous conduct from all participants at all times. Each and every one of you has an image to uphold for the fans. We will not tolerate profanity in front of race fans or officials. At any time your dress, actions or conduct is not in the best interest of Smoky Mountain Raceway, Inc., you must leave the grounds.

There will be no drinking of alcoholic beverages before, during, or after the racing program in the pits. Alcoholic beverages and controlled substances are not allowed in the pit area. Anyone caught with either of these on their person or in their equipment will be suspended up to two weeks for their first offense. A second offense may result in suspension for the season. In addition, any driver, car owner, or pit crew member caught drinking alcoholic beverages at any race will forfeit any money said car has won for this meet. Drivers are responsible for the entire crew.

No firearms are permitted on Smoky Mountain Raceway property by anyone except uniformed police officers. The display or use of any type of weapon at any time will result in permanent suspension for all parties involved and will result in arrest of all parties involved.

Any driver or crew member caught fighting may be suspended for up to two weeks on the first offense. Subsequent offenses may result in permanent suspension for the season. Drivers are responsible for their crew members.

Any disagreement over technical questions or decisions will be resolved by the officials. When their decision is rendered, it is final and binding and no further discussion will take place.


GENERAL RACING RULES
1. The officials will determine all finishing positions and their decisions are final.
2. Track management reserves the right to update, modify, add to, or delete any part of this rule book at any time without prior notification.
3. No driver, car owner, or mechanic shall have any claims for damages, expenses, or otherwise against the track, its officials, or other competitors
4. All participants must be at least sixteen years old and have a valid drivers license
5. All drivers, car owners, mechanics, and anyone else entering the pits must sign a release and purchase a pit pass before entering the pit area.
6. No one under age fourteen will be permitted in the pit area.
7. All cars must travel at a slow, safe speed while in the pits and under caution on the track.
8. No driver may get out of his car on the track or infield to argue or discuss the race with the officials. DO NOT GO TO THE FLAG STAND TO ARGUE WITH THE FLAG MAN. Penalty will be disqualification and/or suspension.
9. No work can be done to the race cars on the track. All work must be done in the pit area. Any car that enters the pits at any time after one complete and scored lap must go to the rear. If a car enters the pits for mechanical repairs because of a caution before the first lap is scored. And is able to re-enter the race track before the 1 lap to go signal. That car will be allowed to regain it's starting position. Pit area includes the front and rear pit roads.
10. No car owner, mechanics, or crew member will be allowed on the track at any time. Penalty will be disqualification. Drivers are responsible for their crew members.
11. Any car that enters the track after the parade lap has started will start on the rear. The parade lap is two laps to go.
12. Cars will be allowed to enter or leave the track only at designated areas.
13. All starts will be running starts, two abreast.
14. If the race is stopped after the first lap, the cars will re-start in single file in the same position they were in prior to the red or yellow flag.
15. Passing under a yellow flag will result in loss of position.
16. After two attempts at a two abreast start, the track officials may declare a single file start and penalize the car or cars responsible for the re-starts.
17. Cars must remain in position until the green flag is dropped. Any driver that "jumps the start" may be penalized one or more positions, placed at the rear, or penalized a lap.
18. Under yellow flag, the race leader has the responsibility of bringing the field to a slow safe speed to enable track officials to reline the field.
19. All races will have a time limit.
20. The flagman has the right to stop a race at any time. Refusing to obey officials will result in being black flagged or being ejected from the pits or race track property.
21. In the event of a caution, cars will not race back to the flag. Positions are determined by the order of the preceding completed lap.
22. Any car or cars charged with a caution - not the ones that stop to keep from hitting the others - will be lined up in the rear. If for any reason the car or cars causing the caution can not be determined, Track officials may place the cars back in the position of the last scored lap. Any car for which a red or yellow flag is displayed must re-start in the rear. Any car deliberately causing a yellow flag or delay in start or re-start will be lined up in the rear.
23. If you spin out a car to gain or keep a position, you must go to the rear without the [spin out] car.
24. If you spin out a car on the white flag lap and the race is completed with a checkered flag you will be penalized a number of positions to be determined by track officials.
25. Any car or driver causing three caution flags during the race will be disqualified for the remainder of the race.
26. Any loose parts such as sheet metal, bumpers, hoods, or deck lids, or any apparent unsafe condition of wheels, tires, steering, or other mechanical parts, and excessive emission of smoke or steam and any leakage of any fluids shall all be deemed reason for ejection from the racing event. In the case of ejection due to these conditions, the driver may return to the race with the same car after the problem is corrected.
27. Owners and drivers are to keep up with their winnings, expenses, or anything else pertaining to income tax.
28. The first five cars in each feature race must pull directly to the inspection area in the pits. If the first place car is found illegal, the succeeding finishing cars will be inspected until a legal car is found.
29. All cars are subject to inspection by track officials at any time.
30. The winner of two feature races in a row must start in the next feature he competes in no further forward, than the inside of the third row. After three feature wins in a row, he starts inside fourth row, after four wins in row he starts inside fifth row, etc. (This rule does NOT apply to heat races, only feature races.)
31. New cars with minor infractions may be permitted a courtesy run. Track officials will determine any penalties necessary to offset those infractions.
32. In the event of a caution on the final lap of the race, the race will be re-started with a green, white, checkered flag in that order, or if time limit, for that race, has expired, track officials may elect to re-start race with green and white flags followed by the checkered flag.
33. A driver is permitted to compete in only one division per racing program.
34. A car is permitted to compete in only one division per racing program.
35. If a driver registers late, he will be placed on the rear of a heat race or in the last position to attempt to qualify.
36. If there is a driver change between registration and heat races or qualifying, the car will be placed on the rear of heat race, or in last position to attempt to qualifying.
37. If a car is late or out on position for it's qualifying number, that car will be allowed only one timed lap of qualifying laps.
38. A driver change between heat race/qualifying and feature race will cause that car to be placed on rear of the feature race.
39. A driver change during feature race will be considered a relief driver and the driver that started the car will receive the points that the car earns.
40. Points go with driver from week to week toward season totals. Drivers earn points according to where the car they started in feature race, finishes in feature race.
41. Any car that is disqualified for being light on weight scales, will be scored as finishing in last position. No carry over penalty to next feature race.

PROTESTS
Any protest concerning technical questions or finishing positions must be made within five minutes after completion, of the feature race for that class. No other protest will be allowed after the initial five minute period. No payoff for that class will be made until the protest is decided. Any protest must be made by drivers only. Anyone else ( car owner. mechanic, pit crew, etc.) present during protest or subsequent discussion will result in the protest being disallowed. Absolutely no protest or discussion will be allowed for judgment decisions. All protest decisions will be made by track officials and are final. Track officials have the authority to hold protested parts, for further evaluation and testing, for two business days, before making a decision.

Visual protest (anything that can be checked without parts being unbolted, except air filters, dust covers, weights may be unbolted) will be $25.00 Track fee 100%. Protest must be made at least 15 minutes before that feature race. Any car found illegal through a visual protest can correct the problem and race immediately after being reinstated. Penalty will be starting on the rear in the next feature race in which he competes.

Protest money, in cash, must be given to the track official at scale within the FIVE minutes allowed. Once protest money has been paid, protest cannot be withdrawn, only disallowed by official. Protest may be filed only by the driver.

A CAR MAY BE PROTESTED ONLY BY THE DRIVERS THAT FINISH BEHIND. YOU MAY PROTEST A CAR THAT FINISHED BEHIND YOU ONLY IF THAT DRIVER IS THE ONE THAT PROTESTED YOUR CAR.

When any car is found illegal in the inspection or protest following a race, that car and driver will forfeit all moneys and points accumulated that day/night and driver must start at the rear of the feature race, for the next three racing programs in which he competes. Any car found illegal a second time, or for a blatant violation of rules is subject to a 1 or 2 race suspension depending on the severity of the violation Track officials will make final decision.

If the protested car is illegal, the protest fee will be returned minus the tech fee. If protested car is legal, that car receives the protest fee minus the tech fee.

Anyone refusing to cooperate during the inspection will be considered illegal. Failure to comply with engine or fuel protest, will result in car being declared illegal.

The track reserves the right to exercise any protest at any time without payment of fee.

When the track requires an engine tear down, the track will pay the normal percentage of the fees to the driver of the car if the car is found to be legal.

THE PROTEST TEAR DOWN AREA IS RESTRICTED TO TRACK OFFICIALS, DRIVER AND TWO CREW MEMBERS OF PROTESTED CAR, AND DRIVER AND ONE CREW MEMBER OF PROTESTING CAR. CREW MEMBERS AND/OR ENGINE BUILDERS OF OTHER TEAMS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN TEAR DOWN AREA.

Engine and internal components are one unit. Transmission, flywheel and pressure plate are one unit. Only one unit will be allowed to be protested by same driver per racing event


PROTEST FEES

MOUNTAIN LATE MODEL & SPORTSMAN

$300 to pull the first head and intake. $100 to pull the second. Track fee is 25%.

$100 to pull the carburetor and intake. Track fee is 25%

$200 to pull the oil pan. Track fee is 25%.

$25 for each visual violation protest. Track fee is 100%. ALL CLASSES

$25 for fuel protest. Track fee is 100%. ALL CLASSES

$50 to pull piston from block, must be in conjunction with full engine protest, ALL CLASSES. Track fee is $10

During a protest, only the components that are protested will be looked at and ruled either legal or illegal. Protest is not intended to be an open hunting season or fishing expedition.


SAFETY RULES REQUIRED IN ALL CLASSES

Roll Cage: Tubing must be a minimum of 1 1/8" diameter with .125 wall thickness and be securely welded to the frame. Frame may be reinforced to install roll cage. All joints must be joined with a continuous weld. No tack welding. Minimum of three horizontal bars in the driver's side door. Minimum of two horizontal bars in the right side door. Horizontal side bars must have vertical support. Three 3/8" wide vertical bars shall be installed in the driver's side of the windshield area.

Fire Extinguishers: All cars must have fully-charged fire extinguishers properly mounted within drivers reach.

Helmets: Approved helmets are required any time driver is on the racing surface. Full face is highly recommended.

Safety Belts: Only quick disconnect racing harness permitted, must be securely attached to roll cage. Seats: Fiberglass or aluminum seats are allowed. All seats must be securely attached to the roll bars, not the floor pan.

Exits: All doors must be welded or bolted shut. Driver must be able to exit from either side for protection or in the event of fire.

Gas Tanks or Fuel Cells: May be relocated into trunk area and be securely fastened to frame and be protected by roll cage or bumper. Must also be securely attached by two 2" x 1/8" steel straps and separated from driver's compartment by minimum 18 gauge steel fire wall.

Fuel: Gas only. No alcohol or nitrous oxide permitted, no additives to increase oxidation rate of fuel, such as nitro benzene, etc.

LATE MODEL, SPORTSMAN, AND SUPER MODIFIED MINI; May use an electric fuel pump, provided pump is wired through an oil pressure cut off switch. ALL OTHER CLASSES MUST USE MECHANICAL, STOCK TYPE, FUEL PUMP.

Radiator: Must be in stock location

Electrical System: All cars must start under their own power. Battery must be located outside driver's compartment or in a leak proof container and securely mounted to frame.

Fire Suits: Strongly recommended in all classes.

Fire Walls: All cars must have metal fire walls between engine and driver's compartment. Full driver's compartment floor pan is to be attached to the front and rear fire walls. All glass, chrome and flammable materials must be removed.

Drive Shaft and Loops: All cars must be equipped with a drive shaft loop made of flat steel ¼ x 2 inches. All drive shafts must be painted white. No direct drives allowed. All cars must have a working clutch and a reverse gear at all times.

Weights: All weights must be securely bolted to frame. ALL WEIGHTS MUST BE PAINTED WHITE AND ALSO HAVE RACE CAR NUMBER PAINTED ON .

Brakes: Working brakes will be required at all times.

Bumpers: Bumpers must be stock, slick type bumpers. No bumper guards, rails or heavy bracing allowed. All rear bumpers must be rolled, turned or plated at least 18 inches.

Car Bodies: All cars must have trunk lids and hoods in place and securely fastened. The rear of all cars must be completely enclosed including covers for tail light holes. Holes to allow air to escape are not allowed. No front wheel drive, four wheel drive or straight axles allowed.

Driver Safety: Fire suits, fuel cells, and window nets are highly, highly recommended.

Pit Safety: All cars driving through the pit area must be at a slow and proper speed. No driver will be allowed to have any passenger at any time.

Fuel lines running through drivers compartment must be placed inside steel conduit or pipe. If fuel tank or fuel cell is re-located to trunk, then at least half of trunk floor must be removed to allow fumes or fuel leaks to escape.

LATE MODEL REAR TUBE BUMPERS MUST BE ROLLED FORWARD AND WELDED TO FRAME OR HAVE A 2" WIDE BY 18" LONG STRAP WELDED FROM BUMPER TO FRAME OR EXTEND NO MORE THAN 12 INCHES OUT FROM MAIN FRAME TUBE. ALSO SPORTSMAN, PRO-STREET AND PRO-MINI CARS THAT HAVE A PLASTIC BUMPER COVER THAT IS BACKED UP BY A TUBE BUMPER MUST BE THE SAME WAY. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT RULE TO PREVENT TUBE BUMPERS FROM ENTERING OTHER CARS IN A CRASH.

Safety Inspection: All cars are subject to a safety or legality inspection at any time before, after, or during any event by any track official. If the track official deems a car has not met all track safety or rule standards, that car will not be allowed to compete until all deficiencies are corrected. It is the responsibility of the driver to have their car free from mechanical defects and in safe racing order at all time.


MISCELLANEOUS

Numbers: All cars must be numbered. All numbers must be at least 18" high. Numbers must be on each side of the car. No fractions allowed. Numbers must be easily read. Every driver must be prepared to make his car uniquely identifiable in the event there are duplicate numbers. This can be accomplished by using wide tape, paint, etc., but must be done before racing. A 6 inch number is required on front of car where headlight was (on passenger side).

Weight: The top three cars in each heat race and the top five cars in each feature race will be required to weigh immediately after the race. Any car that does not weigh or circles through the pits before weighing will be disqualified. The weight category that applies to your car will be posted or kept at scales. Track officials will be allowed to impose weight penalties or reductions in the interest of better competition.If there is six or fewer cars ready to start a feature race, it may be canceled.

No radios allowed, except in Late Model and Modified Street cars.

No forced air induction devices will be allowed on any engine.

No fuel injected engines or systems allowed

NO ELECTRONIC TRACTION CONTROL DEVICES ALLOWED.

NO SB2 HEADS.

Any header or exhaust pipes that extend through the car body must be at a point no higher than the center point of the door. NO grass burners-NO EXCEPTIONS.

All cars must have tow hooks, front & rear. Hooks should not extend so as to be used as a battering ram.

If you want to run any unusual, unmentioned parts or setup, you must have prior written approval of track officials. Request must be submitted 10 days in advance of use to allow decision and announcement at driver's meeting.

Smoky Mountain Raceway, Inc. reserves the right to add or delete rules that it deems necessary to ensure the safety of fans, officials or participants, or to ensure competitive racing to the enjoyment of the fans. Smoky Mountain Raceway, Inc. asks that all participants be very thoughtful and appreciative of the ticket buying fans that allow us the opportunity to participate in a sport we enjoy.


PURSE/PAYOUT

THE PURSE, OR PAYOUT, WILL BE POSTED AT THE PIT OFFICE FOR REGULAR WEEKLY RACE PROGRAMS, AND WILL BE PAID OUT AS POSTED. ANY CLASS THAT DOES NOT START 12 CARS IN THE FEATUE RACE WILL HAVE THE PAY OUT ADJUSTED.



MOUNTAIN LATE MODELS

BODY : Standard Late Model ( UNITED DIRT TRACK RACING ASSOCIATION) dirt bodies only. See diagrams for measurements. Pages 13 and 14.

INTERIOR, SPOILER, AND ROOF: See diagrams. Pages 13, 14, and 15.

ENGINE: 362 maximum cubic inch block as rated by OEM. All measurements and dimensions must remain stock except up to .060 overbore, with a .012 tolerance for wear. Must have correct crankshaft stroke for block being used. Example: Can not put a 327 crank in a 400 block with a 4.125 bore and claim under 362 c.i.

BLOCK AND ENGINE SET BACK: OEM cast iron only, no aluminum blocks. Set back: Maximum: GM 6 inches. Ford and Chrysler 8 inches. Measured from center of ball joint to center of most forward plug hole.

HEADS OPTION 1: 100 lb. weight penalty. ALL MODELS, OEM cast iron only. Casting numbers and factory logo must remain. May be match ported 1 / 2 inch deep from gasket surface. Valve pocket may be claimed to top of stock valve guide. Short sided radius may be blended toward port entrance, but not into port, or port window. Titanium valves allowed. No adding of material to ports or combustion chambers

BOWTIE HEADS: Short turn radius to port roof Max. opening 1.390 inches. Push rod wall opening Max. opening is 1.055 inches. Casting dimples in ports must remain intact. All ports must remain rough, except 1 / 2 inch match porting and blending of short turn radius to casting dimple. Floor of exhaust port may not be ported and must remain rough and stock appearing. 1996 BOWTIE heads that come from factory with some grind marks and no casting dimple in ports are allowed, provided the grind marks do not increase size or flow of ports.

VORTEC HEAD: Short turn radius to port roof, Max. opening 1.430 inches on the tall side and must maintain stock slope to short side. Push rod wall opening, Max. opening is 1.020 inches. All ports must remain rough, except 1 / 2 inch match porting. Window opening of ports must remain stock and can not be opened up or made larger than stock. Floor of exhaust port may not be ported and must remain rough and stock appearing. SB2 HEADS ARE NOT ALLOWED.

OPTION 2: ALL MODELS: OEM PRODUCTION BOX STOCK, cast iron only. Minimum combustion chamber volume is 60cc. Casting numbers and factory logo must remain. Maximum valve size: Intake 2.02: Exhaust 1.60: steel valves only. Except Cleveland heads may use, 2bbl I-2.08 E-1.64, 4bbl I-2.19 E-1.74. Titanium valves are not allowed. Valve seats and guides must remain in stock location. No removing or adding of material or coatings to ports or combustion chambers. Port side of heads can not be excessively surfaced, for the purpose of shortening port runners. Can not add spacer plates between the head and intake. Head must bolt to block in stock location. Offset dowel pins are not allowed. Three angle valve job permitted and may extend into valve pocket no deeper than top of valve guide. Must be done with a cutter on pilot, and may not be wider at bottom than top. No blending of edge where cutter stops. All ports must remain stock, rough and stock volume. No match porting.. GM : Maximum volume of ports are: Intake 187cc. Exhaust 60cc. Short turn radius to port roof Max. opening 1.380 inches. Pushrod wall to pushrod wall Max. opening is 1.055 inches. SB2 HEADS NOT ALLOWED.

FORD : Maximum volume of ports are: Intake 198cc. Exhaust 70cc.

CHRYSLER : Any cast iron, box stock head. Intake 200cc. Exhaust 75cc

OIL PUMP: Dry sump oil systems allowed with a 25 lb. weight penalty added forward of front fire wall. No penalty for external pump if oil pan is the only oil reservoir.

CRANKSHAFT: Any steel or cast crank allowed. Must maintain stock stroke. .012 variance allowed for incorrect index..

PISTONS: Flat top or dished only. Piston must not extend out of block.

RODS: Any type steel rods permitted, but no aluminum or titanium.

CAM and LIFTERS: Flat tappet only, no mushroom or rollers.

Lifter: OEM bore size only

. CARBURETOR: One---Four barrel maximum 850 CFM, may be flowed. NO dominators or predators. Gas only. No alcohol, nitrous oxide, nitrobenzene, or any additives to increase oxidation rate of fuel. INTAKE: Any cast aluminum intake allowed with any internal modification, no sheet metal intakes. Any size spacer allowed between intake and carburetor. Spacers can not be added between intake and heads. Spacer plates can not be welded to intake or heads. Gaskets and/or gasket material between intake and head can not be more than .200 inches thick.

TRANSMISSIONS: Working forward and reverse, no direct drives, must have working clutch. Bert and Brenn type permitted.SUSPENSION: No fiberglass springs permitted.

REAR END: Any type, quick change permitted

WHEEL BASE: See diagrams

WHEELS: Any bead lock wheel permitted except fiberglass, 14 inch max.

TIRES: HOOSIER D55 SPEC ONLY. Tires must be mounted with the identification markers visible. No tire softeners. Tires that check below 40 on track durometer will be ruled illegal. Tires maybe checked before race or after a cool down period, after race.

ELECTRICAL: Any distributor or magneto allowed. All cars must start under their own power. Battery must be located in a safe position.

FUEL CELL: With a metal protective case and a minimum of two 2" steel straps required. Steel case highly recommended. On board fire extinguisher systems highly recommended.

WEIGHT: After race, with driver.

OPTION 1 .............................PORTED HEADS: 2,350 lb.

OPTION 2........................BOX STOCK HEADS: 2,250 lb.

Add 25 lb. forward of front fire wall for dry sump.

MIRRORS AND RADIOS PERMITTED

TUBE BUMPERS CAN NOT EXTEND MORE THAN 12 INCHES FROM MAIN FRAME TUBE, OR IT MUST BE ROLLED FORWARD AND WELDED TO FRAME OR HAVE A 2" WIDE BY 18" LONG STRAP WELDED FROM END OF BUMPER TO FRAME TUBE.

NOT HELPING OR REFUSING TO HELP PACK THE TRACK RACING SURFACE WILL RESULT IN THAT CAR BEING ALLOWED ONLY ONE (1) TIMED QUALIFYING LAP. LIMITED LATE MODEL / SPORTSMAN

BODY : INTERIOR, SPOILER, AND ROOF Standard Late Model ( UNITED DIRT TRACK RACING ASSOCIATION) dirt bodies only. See diagrams for measurements. Pages 13 and 14.

FRAME: OEM type front clip and cross member. All tube front clip allowed with a 50 lb. weight penalty added forward of front fire wall. This weight must be removable for inspection and weight verification. Frames that do not have a full frame rails from fire wall to front cross member will be considered to be a full tube clip. Example: Mustang, Thunderbird, and late model Cameros that do have frame rails from fire wall to cross member will be the same as full tube cars.

ENGINE: OEM factory blocks only. Bowtie, Ford Motor Sports, etc., are not allowed. GM and Ford 362 cubic inch max., all dimensions must remain stock except .060 inches overbore. Chrysler 360 cubic inch allowed but only .030 inches overbore allowed. .012 inches tolerance for wear allowed.

SET BACK: GM- Six(6) inches from center of top ball joint to center of most forward plug. 1/4" tolerance. Ford and Chrysler allowed 8" setback. ADD 25 LB. FOR EACH ADDITIONAL INCH OF SETBACK, 8 INCH MAX. FOR ANY ENGINE.

INTAKE: Box Stock: OEM cast iron or any aluminum intake, with rough cast ports, but must remain Box Stock in ports, and flow rate of ports. No material added or removed from ports. No match porting, grinding, or polishing. Can not be CNC'ed. May have cooling lines added and may be angle milled to fit heads. But metal can not be added to, or removed from ports or runners. Spacer plates can not be welded to intake or heads. Gaskets and/or gasket material between intake and head can not be more than .200 inches thick.

CARBURETOR: One four barrel, double pumper carburetor, 850 CFM maximum. Air horn must not be removed. No grinding, sanding, polishing or anything to increase CFM will be allowed. List and model number must remain. Spacer- 2.125 inches maximum thickness, including all gaskets, heat shields, etc..

STEERING: Any type permitted.

HEADS: OEM stock cast iron only. No Bowtie or SVO, etc. heads allowed. GM heads can not be angle plug type. Vortec heads are allowed. Head must bolt to block in stock location. No porting, polishing, or grinding. No removing or adding of material or coatings in ports or combustion chambers. All factory casting numbers must remain. Removal of numbers will result in head being declared illegal. Roller rocker arms are permitted. Valve seats and guides must remain in stock location. Three angle valve job permitted and may extend into valve pocket no deeper than top of valve guide. Must be done with a cutter on pilot, may not be wider at bottom than top. No blending of edge where cutter stops. All ports must remain stock and rough. Also ports must remain stock volume; ports will have the cc checked in a protest. No match porting. Angle milling of heads is allowed. Gaskets and/or gasket material between intake and head can not be more than .200 inches thick.

VALVES: GM- 2.02 intake 1.60 exhaust maximum

Ford Cleveland 2 BBL- 2.08 intake 1.64 exhaust maximum

4 BBL- 2.19 intake 1.74 exhaust maximum

Ford Windsor- 2.02 intake 1.60 exhaust maximum

Chrysler- 2.02 intake 1.60 exhaust maximum

ALL VALVES, STEEL ONLY, NO TITANIUM VALVES ALLOWED

RODS: OPTION 1. OEM stock steel rods only. OEM stock length only. May be lightened and polished. All casting numbers and identification marks must remain. Removal of numbers or identification marks will cause part to be ruled illegal.

OPTION 2. GM, FORD, or CHRYSLER after market sportsman type 6.00 inch rod, stock appearing, forged, ( I beam ) rods allowed. Beam of rod MUST remain rough, and can not be lightened, polished, or CNC'ed. Casting seam must remain intact. NO MECHART or MECHART type rods.

OPTION 3. FORD ONLY. The so called Australian rod which is 6.030 inches in length will be allowed under OPTION 1 above, and must retain casting numbers.

STOCK LENGTH is Chevy 5.700; Ford 351c 5.780; 351w 5.954; Olds 6.000. Except Ford may use the 6.030 inch rod in Option 1. GM, Ford, and Chrysler may use 6.00 inch rod in Option 2.

CRANKSHAFT: OEM factory cast or steel only. OEM stock stroke only. No Bowtie or SVO, etc. cranks allowed. Lightening and balancing is allowed. All casting numbers and identification marks must remain. Removing of numbers or markings will result in being ruled illegal. .012 variance allowed for incorrect index. Stock stroke is determined by type block. Example; Chevy 350 block must have correct stoke for a 350 not the correct stroke for a 327 engine.

OIL PUMP: Stock type in stock location.

PISTONS: Flat top or dished only, no doomed piston. No part of piston extended out of block. CAM: Flat tappet cam only. No roller or mushroom lifters allowed.

LIFTERS: OEM bore size only.

CLUTCH: Any type clutch allowed. Automatics must have a working torque converter. Direct coupling not allowed. All cars must be able to idle in gear.

TRANSMISSION: OEM type only. Must have working reverse and idle in gear. Bert and Brinn type not allowed.

SUSPENSION-FRONT: Fiberglass springs not permitted. One shock per wheel. Coil over shocks allowed

SUSPENSION-REAR: No fiberglass springs. One shock per wheel. Coil over shocks are allowed. Traction devises adjustable from drivers compartment are not allowed

REAR END: Any type, quick change allowed, may have lift bar and coil over shock. WHEELS: 14" maximum. No fiberglass wheels. Beadlocks allowed.

TIRES: HOOSIER D55 SPEC ONLY. Tires must be mounted with identification marks visible. No tire softeners. Tires that check below 40 on track durometer will be ruled illegal. Tires maybe checked before race, or after a cool down period, after race.

IGNITION: Any distributor and control box and amplifier allowed.

WEIGHTS: With driver after race, FULL CLIP CARS 2500 lb.

TUBE FRAME CARS 2550 lb. with 50 lb. of this weight forward of front fire wall. Plus any penalty weight for setback, or any other penalty weights.

MIRRORS AND RADIOS PERMITTED

SUPER MODIFIED MINI

MANUFACTURE: GM, Ford, and Chrysler only.

BODY: Strictly stock appearing steel or molded components only, totally front to rear. Sheet metal with a break down the middle and the quarter panels kicked in, is not a molded body. No convertibles or T-tops. Body must maintain factory appearance. Maximum spoiler material is 8"x 72" (same as late models), with a maximum of two (2) side braces. Spoiler support size is same as late models (see diagram page 12}. Spoiler width not to protrude past top of body roll. Holes drilled in rear tail piece to allow air to escape are not allowed.

FRAME AND SUSPENSION: Any type steel frame allowed. Jack bolts and coil overs allowed.

TRANSMISSION AND REAR END: OEM type transmission with a working clutch and working reverse gear, no direct drives. OEM type rear end, may be locked. Any type brakes allowed. Any type clutch.

ENGINE: Four cylinder only. Two valves per cylinder only. 2600 cc maximum OEM block size. Maximum overbore .060 inches, for stock size OEM block. .012 tolerance for wear. No marine engines. One OEM or Holley two barrel carburetor only.

SETBACK: Center of number one cylinder in line with spindles. 1/4" tolerance. A 20 lb. penalty for each additional inch of setback. Maximum setback for any engine is 8 inches.

CRANKSHAFT: After market steel crank allowed but must maintain stock stroke for that OEM engine block. .012 inches tolerance for incorrect index. Ford 2500cc engine is allowed. Must carry weight for a 2500cc engine block.

RODS: Any type steel rods allowed. Titanium or aluminum rods not allowed.

HEAD: OEM steel, with no weight penalty, or a factory aluminum head with a weight penalty. Maximum two valves per cylinder. Porting and polishing allowed. Casting numbers or manufacturing identifying marks must remain. No home made heads allowed.

INTAKE: Any intake allowed.

TIRES: HOOSIER D55 x 13 inch SPEC tires only. Tires must be mounted with the identification markers visible. No tire softeners. Tires that check below 40 on track durometer will be ruled illegal. Tires maybe checked before race or after a cool down period, after race.

WHEELS: Steel, 13 inch diameter by 10 inch width. Bead locks allowed. Special allowance will be made for home made bead locks, but wheel must stay as close as possible to 10 inch maximum width.

WEIGHT: Up to 2300 cc -------1900 lb. block before boring

Over 2300 cc--------2040 lb. block before boring

Over 2500 cc--------2040 lb. plus 1 lb. per cc

Plus setback penalty of 20 lb. per inch

Aluminum head, additional 120 lb., a minimum of 50 lb. of this weight, must be located forward of firewall. This is same weight as 1997 for the aluminum heads but gives an additional 20 lb. weight break to the steel heads. Weights must be painted white and be removable for inspection and to be weighed. Protest to remove and check this weight is same as a visual protest $25. Track fee 100%

PROTEST FEE: $175 to pull head, track fee is $50. $200 to pull oil pan, track fee $75. $25 to check fuel, track fee 100%.

MINI STOCK

BODY: GM, Ford or Chrysler. All cars must have a 100" or less wheel base. Cars must remain pure stock with OEM firewalls and floor pan. No convertibles, T-tops, or station wagons. Hulling allowed except for front and rear fire walls and floor pan. Breather/ Air Filter must remain under hood. Front and rear bumpers must remain stock. No plastic nose pieces. Doors must be bolted or welded shut. No front wheel drives, or rear engine cars. Quick release steering wheels permitted.

INTERIOR: Fuel tank may be removed from original position but must be separated from drivers compartment and enclosed. Fuel cells recommended. Either must be securely fastened. Passengers compartment must remain open. No sheet metal cockpits or sheet metal added to form a box interior of form a spoiler effect. Sheet metal shall not come any further forward than back of racing seat nor any higher than bottom of window opening.

SUSPENSION: Suspension must remain stock, except it may be lowered and reinforced. No racing or heim joint shocks. No adjustable ride height spacers, lift bars, traction bars, jack bolts, etc. Shocks and springs must remain attached in original location and remain stock appearing. Floor pan may not be strengthened by tying front and rear clips together. Front clip may not be reinforced with parallel tubing welded to clip or frame rails.

ENGINE BLOCK: May be decked no more than .030 inches. Fords: 2300 cc engine only, 2500 cc engine not allowed. Fords: 5.200 inch rod only.

ENGINE: 4 cylinder motors only. Engine must remain pure stock. Valves must remain stock size and profile. If engine came from factory with hydraulic lifter it must remain with working hydraulic lifters, with no modifications of any kind Boring to .060 oversize permitted. No work allowed on rods. OEM stock Cast iron exhaust manifolds only, and exhaust pipe must exit under body not through door. Stock OEM carburetor. No sanding, painting, grinding, adding of material, or metal removal to increase CFM of carburetor, spacer plate, or intake. Stock harmonic balancer/pulleys must remain. Electric fans are not allowed. Engine must retain OEM stock setback. Any steel, stock replacement valve allowed. Must be OEM stock size, for the head that the valve is being used in. Titanium not allowed. Turbo valves are not allowed. Valve will be considered to have a stock profile, if the valve has a stock size dish in head of valve. Valve can not be back cut to resemble a stock turbo valve. Valve face can not be back cut more than .200 inches from outer most edge of valve head. All machine cut angles must come to a sharp point. Angles can not have a radius, or be rounded over.

TECHNICAL NOTE: On a protest tear down, a solid lifter will be substituted for hydraulic lifter and adjusted down to zero clearance. Then lift will be measured straight off of valve. Solid lifters will be adjusted to zero lash and checked straight off valve. Minimum width of Ford head is 5.820 inches. Head can not be angle milled on any surface. .012 inches tolerance for incorrect index on stroke. On all protest that require the removal of head, the water pump will be required to be removed also, so that deck height can be checked. FORD 2300cc ENGINE: Stock stroke is 3.130 inches

FORD: Stock 5.200 inch rod only. 2500cc engine/crankshaft not allowed.

CARBURETOR: Stock OEM only. Choke may be removed. No other work allowed.

FORDS: Carburetor: Model 5200 Ford/Webber only. Adapter in intake must remain stock, and in place, can not be removed.

VALVE FACE AND SEAT: May have no more than 2 angles on valve and 4 angles on seat. Angles can not be rounded over.

CAM: No roller rocker arms; Max. valve lift is .400. Stock timing sprockets only. No modifications to lifters allowed.

PISTONS: No part of piston outside of block.

HEADS: OEM stock only.. Metal below valve seat MAY NOT be removed. Valve pocket and ports must remain stock and maintain stock volume..

COMBUSTION CHAMBER: Minimum volume is 58cc .

TRANSMISSION: OEM type only. Flywheel, steel OEM only, must weigh minimum 18 lb. For 2000cc KENT engine minimum is 17 lb. Pressure plate- steel, OEM type and size. Clutch disk OEM type and size. Minimum weight of pressure plate and clutch plate together is 11 lb. No after market racing components. Rear end within manufacture line, 8" maximum, maybe locked.

TIRES: Street tires only, no mud grips or recaps. No racing or special purpose tires. No grooving of tires. Maximum tread width is 7 inches.

WHEELS: Any stock type steel wheel. Maximum width is 6 inches. NO ultra light racing wheels. NO aluminum alloy wheels.

WEIGHT: Up to 2500cc engines- 2300 lb.

Over 2500cc engines- add 1 lb. per cc.

PROTEST: $200 to pull head. Track fee $75. $100 to pull valve cover, to include top and bottom timing sprockets, cam and lifters. Track fee $50. Transmission/clutch pressure plate protest $100, track fee is $50. $200 to pull oil pan, Track fee is $75.

NOTE: Any driver winning 6 or more feature races in 1999 will have to move up to the Pro mini class in year 2000 racing season.


PRO MINI STOCK

ENGINE: 4 cylinder motors only. Engine must remain pure stock. Rebuilt engines must have OEM quality components.

VALVES: Valves must remain stock size and profile. Valves cannot be under cut or edges rounded over. Steel, stock replacement valve only. Must be OEM stock size, for the head that the valve is being used in. Titanium not allowed. Valve will be considered to have a stock profile, if the valve has a stock size dish in head of valve. Valve may be back cut to resemble a stock turbo valve, but can not be back cut more than .300 inches from outer most edge of valve head. All machine cut angles, on valve face and any back cut angles, must come to a sharp point. Angles can not have a radius, or be rounded over. If engine came from factory with hydraulic lifter it must remain with working hydraulic lifters, with no modifications of any kind. Single or double valve springs allowed. Ford engines must use front sump oil pan, and oil pan sump, must remain in front of cross member and rack steering. Fords: 2300 cc engine only, 2500cc engine/crankshaft not allowed. Fords: 5.200 inch rod only.

TRANSMISSION: OEM type only. Flywheel, steel OEM only, must weigh minimum 18 lb. KENT 2000cc engine, minimum is 17 lb. Pressure plate- steel, OEM type and size. Clutch disk OEM type and size. Minimum weight of pressure plate and clutch plate together is 11 lb. No after market racing components.

REAR END: Maximum size 8". Must be within manufacture line. May be locked.

WHEELS: Any stock type steel wheel. Maximum size is 8 by 13 inches. No ultra light wheels. No aluminum alloy wheels. Also, wheels that are legal for mini stock class, may be used for 1 race only in Pro Mini class.

TIRES: Hoosier RC4 8x13 inch SPEC tires only No tire softeners. No grooving of tires. All tires must be mounted with identification numbers visible. Also, tires that are legal for mini stock class, may be used for 1 race only.

PROTEST: $200 to pull head. Track fee $75. $100 to pull valve cover. Track fee $50. Transmission/clutch pressure plate protest $100, track fee is $50. $200 to pull oil pan, Track fee is $75.

WEIGHT: Up to 2500cc engines- 2300 lb. 2500cc engines- add 1 lb. per cc.


PRO STREET STOCK

BODY: 1960 through 1998 American made cars or either two or four doors. No compacts, sports car or station wagon. Minimum wheel base of 104" . Cars must remain pure stock with OEM firewalls and floor pan. Top of breather/air filter can not extend more than 2 inches out of and/or above hood. Hood must remain stock for that body style. No convertibles, t-tops, or station wagons. Hulling allowed except for front and rear firewalls and floor plan. May have factory molded, stock appearing nose piece. Wedge nose piece is not allowed. Rear of car must be totally closed, holes to allow air to escape are not allowed. Both door windows must remain open so that driver can exit either side. Stock OEM spoiler for that body style only.

FRAME: GM cars must have stock floor pan and stock frame (or stock front and rear clips if a uni-body car) for that model and year car. Frame can not be narrowed Stock cross members must remain. On uni-body cars ( GM or Ford, etc.) front and rear clips may be tied together with the roll cage. Ford, Chrysler, and AMC must have stock floor pan and stock frame (or stock front and rear clips if a uni-body car) but does not have to be for that model or year. Post 1960 frames only. Must be within manufacture lines. Frame can not be narrowed, but can be shortened or lengthened to fit wheel base of body. Stock cross members must remain.

INTERIOR: Fuel tank may be removed from original position but must be separated from drivers compartment and enclosed. Fuel cells recommended. Either must be securely fastened. Passenger compartment must remain open. No sheet metal cockpits or sheet metal added to form a box interior or form a spoiler effect. Sheet metal shall not come any further forward then back of racing seat. And no higher than bottom of window opening. Quick release steering wheels permitted.

SUSPENSION: Steering must remain stock type and stock location. Upper and lower control arms must remain stock type. Safety spindle on right front is permitted. Drag link eliminators are not allowed. Lift bar on rear end is not allowed Slider leaf spring shackles are not allowed. One shock per wheel only. Coilovers are not allowed anywhere on car. Pan hard bars, trailing arms, traction bars are allowed, and may have heim joint ends, but can not be adjustable. Jack bolts and racing shocks are allowed.

CARBURETOR : Any 650 CFM or smaller carburetor allowed. Mechanical secondary allowed. Air horn and LIST numbers must remain intact. No cutting or polishing to increase CFM.

TRANSMISSION: OEM type automatic or straight shift transmission. Steel fly wheels only. Minimum weight of flywheel is 24 lb.. OEM type clutch and pressure plates. Single disc clutch plates only. Minimum size of clutch plate is 10 inch diameter. Minimum weight of pressure plate and clutch assembly is 18 lb.. Straight shift cars must have a steel bell housing or an approved type scatter shield. Scatter shields highly recommend for all cars. Torque converters must be OEM type and in working order. Minimum diameter of converter is 10 inches. Must idle in gear. If oil cooler is located near cockpit area, it must have a metal deflector shield to force oil away from driver in the event a cooler or hose bursts.

ENGINE: Maximum c.i. GM-350, Ford 351, Chrysler, AMC-any stock c.i. except hemi-heads. Maximum overbore .060. Engine set back must be in stock position or no further back then number 1 plug in line with top of ball joint. Maximum valve size Chevy-1.94 intake/1.60 exhaust. Ford 351W-1.94 intake/1.60 exhaust. Ford 351C-2BBL, 2.08 intake/1.64 exhaust. 4BBL,-219 intake/1.74 exhaust. Oldsmobile, Buick, and Pontiac-1.995 intake/1.625 exhaust. Chrysler, AMC-OEM valve size. Steel valves only. Roller tip rockers allowed, but full roller rockers are not allowed. Flat top or dished pistons only, no part of pistons may extend outside of block. OEM stock crank and rods, stock stroke and length. No polishing or lightening of crank or rods. Crank and rods may be balanced. Maximum valve lift CAN NOT exceed .512 inches. Solid lifters allowed. Stock distributor only. HEI ignition must have coil built into cap. No MSD boxes. Any type header allowed.

HEAD: OEM STEEL heads only. GM straight plug heads only.

COMBUSTION CHAMBER: Minimum volume 55cc all heads. Three angle valve job permitted, on valve and valve seat, but any metal below valve seat CAN NOT be removed; valve pocket must remain stock. Stainless steel valves are permitted. No porting, polishing, grinding, removing or adding of material to increase CFM. All ports must remain box stock and maintain stock volume. Rocker arm studs may be tapped into heads and guide plates are permitted. VORTEC HEADS ARE NOT ALLOWED.

. TECHNICAL NOTE: On a protest tear down, rocker arm clearance will be left with valve lash that was ran in race and valve lift will be measured straight off of valve. If engine has hydraulic lifters a solid lifter will be substituted and lash adjusted to .020 then lift measured straight off valve. Crankshaft stroke: .012 inches tolerance for incorrect index on stroke.

INTAKE; Any OEM box stock cast iron low profile, intake. The only aluminum intake allowed is Edelbrock Performer RPM except Ford Cleveland may use the Torker intake. No grinding, polishing, adding to, or removal of metal of any kind. Intake must remain BOX STOCK. All ports must remain stock and rough. Gaskets and/or gasket material between intake and head can not be more than .200 inches thick. SPACER-- 1.125 inches maximum thickness, including all gaskets, heat shields, etc.,.

REAR END: Any type OEM solid axle rear end. May be locked. NO floaters.

WHEELS. Any stock type steel wheel maximum width 10 inches. NO wide 5 type wheels. No ultra light, or aluminum alloy wheels

PICK-UP TRUCK

In response to several inquires about a truck class, and to see if there is enough interest in a truck class, pick-up trucks any size will be allowed to compete in the PRO-STREET class. All rules will be the same, except the trucks will be allowed to use passenger car frames, chassis, suspension, steering, etc. within manufacture lines. American nameplate trucks only. Floor of bed may be removed and top of bed may be covered with a flat cover of any material that is securely fastened to bed. All other rules are the same. If a point is reached, where there is 12 or more trucks competing in a regular weekly program, track officials may decide to open a new class just for trucks, to be called PRO-TRUCK.
