117. The Romanoff Affair
(AKA The Treasures of Pago Pago)
First Broadcast: February 17, 1996
When a smuggler dies mysteriously on Pago Pago, American Samoa, Holli is summoned for the autopsy since this is also part of her jurisdiction. Complicating the issue is the fact that the man who died is listed as having been killed in Vietnam -- in other words, a possible MIA. Mack accompanies Holli to investigate. Once there, Holli is smitten with a wealthy landowner whose family has been there for generations. However, it turns out he is also a former Vietnam POW, and he seems to have strange friends -- international criminals of some notoriety. Mack and Holli discover that the people are there to claim a magnificent jewel collection from the Czarist days, only recently stolen and smuggled out of Russia. Holli's handsome beau is up to his neck in the crime.
