Japanese sumo wrestling forms the backdrop for this story of international intrigue. When one of Japan's grand champions dies under mysterious circumstances in Hawaii, the finger of suspicion points to a Hawaiian sumo star blocked from reaching grand champion status by the Japanese wrestler. Eager to avoid serious repercussions, the powers that be insist that Mack and Holli each have a Japanese "partner" in the investigation. Holli and Mack uncover a story of personal tragedy emanating from the Japanese star, whose fame has made him a miserable human being. Their "partners" are revealed to be employees of a powerful Japanese family touched by the scandal of both the sumo's life and death.
