All these years, beneath his feet, an entity burns with life, hinting in mannerisms of what might be a possible past and true culture of its race. It is a secret that makes Roswell look insignificant.
All these years in pop culture we see flying saucers and alien grays, but neglect to look further. Atlantis's Mother Crystal is both nestled in history and the future. Publications for the Atlantis storyline state about 40,000 years ago a comet passed by the earth, a piece falling to it, resulting in the arrival of a crystal. A culture discovered its powers and learned to use them, and, over time, the crystal grew a consciousness. The result was a city that evolved under a blue, nebulous orb of light, like a tiny blue sun with stylized stone carvings circling it like planets. In the event of impending doom, it's light transforms to crimson, shooting down beams of light of the same hue. The search beams sweep the city to choose a host. Upon the location of one the shaft of light cools to light blue, focuses to a thin ray upon the shard of crystal the host wears around the neck and puts them into a trance. Beam widening, the person is lifted limply from the torso rather than the head or arms. Thus is how the person is lifted to the heavens and undergoes an intensely bright white transformation as the stones spin powerfully around the crystal.
We have all seen the movies. A bright light shines down upon an abductee. He or she goes into a trance, oftentimes, as they are being lifted up by the beam, seemingly by their torso, to the source high above. Like the "flying saucer," the Heart of Atlantis uses light to call beings up to it. In so many films the saucer spins, much like the King Stones do. Everyone knows about the narrow shafts of intense red light known as "death rays." When the hatch opens on the spaceship, the being inside is ever-so-often backlit by an intense white light. These movies are the predecessor to the notion of this entity above the city. Now, study Atlantean design. The crystal is clearly a contributor to it, considering its energy flowed through the city's patters like water in aqueducts. Additionally, the shell of lava over the city during the end of the movie cracked off in the beautiful spiral and circular designs that abound in the city. Look now at crop circles. Circle is, of course, inherent in the name, and spiral designs are also common. Upon inspection, it is not difficult to see a notable similarity between the patterns.
We come now to the theory. Traversing space, young crystals live in colonies, not yet having developed such "consciousnesses." Alien species harvest them, using them as living power sources for their technology. Red beams of light, consistent with when the crystal senses danger, are converted to "weapons of war," as the late king would say. One sees the crystal's light whenever the hatch is opened, and when a being is pulled up the shaft of light. The saucer spins as the King Stones do around the Mother Crystal, this orbit apparently being a way to keep its own power in check. The crystal leaves its mark in the form of crop circles, as its power runs along the ground when the ship lands. The Mother Crystal is not only an alien, but in symbiosis with other species in their journeys through space. As Kida says to Milo in animation tests, "These pictures seem to speak of a great, blue star, that came down from the heavens and filled our world with light." Little does she know how many worlds are brightened by such light.
As absurd as this theory is, there is supporting evidence. I do not expect this to be accepted by any means, but, do take into account these similarities, for in them Atlantis: the Lost Empire has even deeper roots in the realm of science fiction and science fantasy.
