Submissions

Hello friends! Whitmore here to tell you what you need to know to submit something here, whether it's art or writing. Yep, we have rules to keep the youngins safe when they come here. Here they are!

1. The work must be decent in terms of modesty. If you send in a picture of a character without clothes or a piece of literature with two characters doing something they would not normally do in a Disney movie, it will not be accepted. As far as decency goes, anything rated G or PG for writing will likely be accepted. Common sense applies to decency in artwork. Language, gore, adult content, ect, are all factors.
2. No "character bashing" is allowed. If you have written or drawn something made only to bash a character you do not like, it will NOT be accepted.
3. WE have the final say. If your work follows every rule, there is still a chance it will not be accepted.
4. Please be patient. It takes a very long time to get around to reading fan fiction. Fan art will be much quicker, but it still will take some time.
5. The content must be Atlantis-related and either intellegent, funny, or both. (In other words, it requires a storyline as opposed to a bunch of random events strung together, unless an adequate reason is provided.)
6. Be sure to include your name (screen name or otherwise), e-mail and any info you wish to include about the piece, especially the title! Your e-mail, unless you say otherwise, will be available so visitors can tell you you did a great job!
7. If you're sending a picture, please make sure the file size is small, preferably under 100 kb, but if it could be under 50, that would be great, by thunder! Otherwise we have to go in and edit, and a JPeg of a JPeg ain't pretty. We ask for your own benefit so your picture stays in top quality. If you have a good reason for why you want a file to be large, such as respect to the subject matter, say so.
8. Also make sure an image's pixel size is small enough it can fit on the screen. Any larger and we may have to resize, and ladies and gents I'm sure you agree only seeing an eye on your screen is a pain in the hind parts.
9. As obvious as this might seem, it must have to do with Atlantis in some way.
10. Note that though the right click will be disabled on the page your art will be displayed, there is no other availible measure to protect your work. We are not responsible for theft, modification, or modification of your work away from this site. You are promised rights to your work (fiction, art, theory, ect.) as well as credit on this site. In addition, aside from modifying the size of the image, no modification will be done to a piece of art.
11. And a note about rights... Yes, the artist still retains rights to the image. However, there must, I now feel, be a note on copying. DO NOT trace an image, especially from another person's work, change it slightly, and call it your own. Fan art is considered officially "original" at a 15% difference away from fan communities. But here at the City of Atlantis, notable similarities between the works of two artists must be adressed. If artist B's piece highly resembles artist A's, artist B must make sure artist A sends into us a letter giving permission. On that page will be a note saying, "This piece was inspired by 'artist A's'..." Otherwise, if the same general concept and pose are the same, acceptance is unlikely. Issues with pose theft (any time it comes into question) will be determined on a piece-by-piece basis. I suggest avoiding using the pose from ANY piece of fan art you see, just to make things easier on ya.
