Our Life Together

by Samgirl

Milo awoke at 8:00 a.m. He looked at Kida, who was sleeping by his side. One year ago, Milo and Kida had been married. Kida suddenly sat bolt upright in bed.

"Kida, are you okay?" Milo asked.

"Teeg, my husband. I was just having a strange dream," Kida replied.

"Was it a warning from the Crystal?" Milo inquired.

"I cannot remember," Kida said. "Yahd-lu-gohnik! We were not supposed to sleep so late!"

"What are you talking abou-holy smokes!" Milo yelled after glancing at the clock.

They both jumped out of bed.

"Milo, where are you going?"

"I have to give a presentation!"

"In your underwear?" Kida replied with a confused expression on her face.

"Jiminy Christmas, I forgot my robe!" Milo panicked. Kida tossed him his robe. As soon as he had it on, Milo took off. Five seconds later, Milo was back. "I forgot something else," Milo panted.

"Your glasses?" Kida asked.

"Well, yeah," Milo said, grabbing his glasses. "But most importantly, I forgot this." Milo threw his arms around Kida and kissed her. "I have to go now. Goodbye, sweetheart. I love you!" Milo called as he left.

"I love you too!" Kida called. "Gahmoak!" Kida then began fixing her hair.

******************

"So you see, reading Atlantean is not hard to learn, it just requires a lot of time and dedication," Milo explained. "Thank you for attending the presentation."

After the Atlanteans left, Kida entered the building and walked towards Milo. "Hello, my husband. How was the presentation?" she asked.

"Well, I was a little nervous at first, but eventually it all turned out okay," Milo answered.

"That is wonderful, my Milo." Kida smiled and took his hand. Together, they walked into the marketplace. "Milo, is it not surface tradition for the wife to cook dinner for the husband?" Kida asked.

"Yeah, it is. Why?"

"Nothing, my Milo."

"Cooking supplies for sale!" a nearby merchant shouted.

"I shall return in a moment, Milo." And with that Kida vanished from Milo's sight. When she returned, she was carrying a sack full of pots, pans, and other supplies.

"Hey, Kida. What's with all the...supplies?" Milo asked.

"You will see tonight, my Milo." Kida then took Milo`s hand with her free one and began walking home, eagerly planning her surprise.

******************

Milo walked into the palace dining room. "Hi, Kida. Mmmm, what smells so good?" he hungrily asked. Kida presented him with a large bowl full of slimy things covered in an oozing solution.

"Surprise, my husband! I made dinner for us tonight."

Milo continued to stare at the bowl. "Oh. What is it?"

"Squid tentacles with squid sauce."

"Oh. It looks delicious!" Milo lied. He picked up a tentacle and tasted it. Immediately ,his eyes bugged out and his smile turned into a look of disgust.

"Is it not pleasing, my Milo?" Kida asked.

"It's great dear," Milo lied once again.

"Kida?"

"Mmmph?" Kida hummed with her mouth full.

"Can I cook dinner tomorrow night?"

Kida swallowed. "Yes, but why?"

"No reason."

They then went back to eating their meals.

******************

Kida was climbing up the stone giant. After forcing herself to choke down something called "Milo's all American mac-and-cheese, she needed some time to relax and let her stomach settle. When she reached the top, she sat down and started thinking. As she thought, memories of her dream flooded her mind. There had been a message in her dream. She heard it in her mind all over again. It had said, "Soon life for you and your husband will change dramatically and wonderfully". It left Kida very puzzled. "I should tell Milo", she told herself. "He might know what it means." She climbed down the statue and walked back to the palace.

******************

"I'm sorry, Kida," Milo said. "I don't know what the dream meant."

Kida sighed.

"I'm sorry, Kida. I wish I could help", Milo apologized once again.

"It is not your fault, Milo. I am just frustrated," Kida said. A few moments of silence passed. Kida yawned.

"Tired, honey?" Milo asked.

"Yes. I think I will go upstairs and take a nap," Kida answered.

"Okay. I'm going to try and finish my research."

"Very well. Goodnight, my Milo. I love you."

"I love you too." Kida and Milo kissed each other goodnight. Kida then started walking upstairs.

******************

"Milo, I am going to see our doctor today," Kida announced.

"Why, Kida? What's wrong?" Milo asked, very concerned.

"I have not felt well all day. I think it might be best if I see the doctor and make sure I'm all right."

"Okay, Kida. I'll be doing some research, okay?"

"Very well, Milo. I shall return fairly soon. Gah-moak!"

"Bye, sweetheart!" Milo walked into the next room and continued working on his research.

******************

Kida walked into Milo's "research room," as they liked to call it. Milo looked up from his research. "Hi honey! What did you find out from the doctor?" Milo asked. "Milo, I have great news! I talked to the doctor and... I'm going to have a baby!" Kida positively glowed after announcing the news to Milo.

"Kida, that's great! That must have been what your dream was trying to tell you!" Milo was absolutely ecstatic. Kida hadn't seen him this excited since he found out about the Heart of Atlantis. "Kida, this is great news!"

"Yes, I know."

"I can hardly believe it. In a matter of months, all our dreams will come true."

Kida sighed. "I know. I just wish Tahbtoap and Mahtihm were here with us."

The couple embraced for a long time afterwards.

******************

9 months and several hours later:

"Isn't she beautiful, Kida?" Milo smiled down at his baby daughter. "She's as beautiful as you are. What's her name going to be?"

Kida thought quietly for a few minutes. "We could name her Crystalinatash," Kida decided.

"Yeah. We could call her Crystal for short," Milo replied.

"Then it is settled. We shall call her Crystalinatash," Kida said.

They both gazed down at their daughter. They knew that from then on, their life together would be wonderful.
