MORE ATLANTIS CD's?!
![]() |
Those lucky Europeans! Atlantis did much better there than here in the U.S. As a result, they got two CD's! (One is a "Maxi-CD," or, in otherwords, a single. It's the one at left.) The first, "Stars Inspired By Atlantis," I absolutely love! As an "inspired by" CD, it is typical in that there are some songs that have absolutely nothing to do with the movie (they just sound good) and many that are fitting but probably not inspired by. Even the Lion King albums are that way. Here's the stats:
- 4 songs in a foreign language (I find them wonderful, though I have no clue what they're saying. I've been attempting to sing along to French, Swahili, [now even Atlantean] since I was young, so this doesn't bother me.)
- 3 songs that have nothing to do at all with Atlantis. (Singing that you're a superhero, "and I thought you were the one," and "since our breakup I've been doing great without you," don't match a bit.)
- At least 5 that actually are inspired by, though others fit all too well.
- There are 20 tracks, making for 7 7:33 minutes of music!!! It may be very expensive for importing, but you get more music for your CD!
- Many of the songs are love ballads. In fact, one of the Atlantis-inspired ones is, with no doubt in my mind, Milo and Kida's love song.
- Tracks (with opinions/comments):
- Atlantis 2002 - No Angels and Donovan (Definately Atlantis-influenced. Fun!)
- Never Had a Dream Come true - S Club 7 (Doubtful it is, can be made to fit, but skirts the rim as to fitting. Beautiful.)
- Du und Ich - Glashaus (German. Duh. Nice song.)
- Come Take My Hand (The New Atlantis Version-remix) - DJ Bobo (At least partially Atlantis-influenced. Duh.)
- Don't Walk Away - Curly. (Nice.)
- Superhero - LFO (Why this song is on here I don't know. It belongs on a Superman soundtrack, and, though funny, is quite ludicrous.)
- (Will You Follow Me) Down to Atlantis - Fury in the Slaughterhouse (and?) Joey (Atlantis-inspired, fun, and sweet. Slightly corny in one part, but so is the first song. ;") )
- Like an Ocean - Juliette (I adore this Atlantis-inspired song. If this isn't for Milo and Kida, nothing is.)
- Atlantis - J-Luv (In German, beautiful and mysterious)
- Es tut mir leid - Laith Al-deen (German, of course, and very nice.)
- Bye, Bye Girl - Bosson (Barely fits, it's "we're parting ways at the moment, but we'll see each other again."
- On and On - Gil (Good beat and all, but this doesn't fit. "I thought you were the one." It would work if it had to do with Milo's 22 day girlfriend, Lisa McGrath.)
- Playing With the Time - Man Doki (Fitting and a good diversity in voice usage. Hey, just about any love song can be stuck in here and fit. Why not, I guess?)
- Please Stay - Jeanette (Beautiful, romantic, and very fitting.)
- You & I - Jennifer Rush (There's a reference to "ancient pages and faces we've come to explore." Makes me wonder if this one too is Atlantis-inspired. Very romantic, very beautiful.)
- Here I Am - Judith (Sweet song.)
- Carpe Diem (Söhne Mannheims Ragga Mix - Radio Edit) - Nena (Only a line or so in English. Technically Milo seized the day his opportunity arose, why not? Not bad.)
- Us Against the World - Play (Fun, and fitting Milo's struggle for his quest. I'm a little confused by the lyrics as to who is being spoken to at times, though.)
- So Good (Soul Mix) - Destiny's Child (Well, it would fit Lisa McGrath if she actually showed in the movie. Otherwise...)
- The World in My Hands (RMX 2002) - Snap! vs. Fu-Tourist (Could be an inspired-by remix due to the date [remembering how much later Atlantis came out in Europe.] Fun, a love song, but with a heavy beat.)
Also, I have noticed on the single (below) it said something about a "titelsong" (title song). I have known for quite a while, in parts of Europe, there was a different song than, "Where the Dream Takes You." It appears No Angels and Donovan's song is it!!! 8>D
As stated, I'm glad I made the investment. The CD is available on amazon.de. Click here to see the page with music samples on it. If you want ENGLISH instructions as to how to order, I have a walkthrough sent to me from Amazon.de that I can send you. Just e-mail me at Like_A_Star8800@yahoo.com.

The single is simply called, I believe, "Atlantis." Though I have little idea as to what it's like, I'm hoping to obtain it. It's by "Donovan and No Angels." One version of the five songs on the CD does appear on "Stars." It has the following tracks:
It's really nice, but if you really wanted Atlantis music, skip this. As an ATLE music freak, I love it, but without a doubt teh above one is more satisfying. ;") "When Angels Sing" is beautiful, but is not Atlantis-inspired. Atlantis (Submarine Mix) is extremly similar to the radio version. The differences are that the beginning chorus is missing (making for a version 14 seconds shorter) and complementing the beat is various sub noises, most commonly that of a submarine's sonar used to the beat. Nice touch.
