Though now she's queen, when I first met her she was both a princess and a warrior huntress. I was hurt from having fallen down part of the volcano shaft, but she healed me.
Soon thereafter, when we finally found Atlantis, she and the other hunters ambushed us. Kida gave us a chance, demanding who we were and where we came from. When they found out I was multilingual, we were welcomed. She then insisted we meet with her father, the king. I learned later when she was talking to him that, by law, she should have killed us! She believed we could help them.
Shortly after that, when I was going to try and talk to her anyway, she surprised me from behind and pulled me to her hideout. Kida was worried about her people. No one could read Atlantean, including herself (and was surprised I could)! She told me about a distant memory she had about a light floating above the city. Her mother was called to it, never to be seen again. I could tell she was still remorseful about that.
She kept asking me about my friends. It turns out Kida was just as curious about my culture as I was about hers.
Kida was desperate to know about the past. She took me to see some underwater murals so I could read them. I told her the light was the Heart of Atlantis. Of course, she had no idea what I was talking about, and neither of us expected the encounter with it we'd have.
Rourke captured Kida after the swim (though she took out three armed guards!) and forced me to help him find the Crystal. (I found out how protective she was when she vowed to kill Rourke when he hit her father).
When we found the Crystal, she showed me just how dutiful she was. She sacrificed herself to it like her mother did!
When she was released, Kida floated into my arms. She also had a bracelet, returned to her by her mother who lived on inside the Crystal. When we looked out at the city, she took my hand, and I realized a new life waited for me with her.
Kida led the King stone ceremony for her father, and I still remember a look of mourning on her face. However, she smiled in loving memory as it rose.
Together we learned about the past of Atlantis. When she took the throne, she became a resourceful, determined and trusting queen who spends time with the people, unselfishly interested in their affairs. As a result, Atlantis has gone through a cultural revival.
