Brian (newcomer Robbie Bryan) is about to attend law school with his high school sweetheart, Jennifer (Kelly Ripa, TV's "All My Children", Marvin's Room). But after and inspiring talk with his college theater professor (David Ogden Stiers, Doc Hollywood, TV's "M*A*S*H"), Brian has a change of heart and instead heads to New York to follow his dream of becoming an actor. After a humorous first job as an "extra" and a "bit part" on a medical drama. Brian quickly learns that life as an actor is not all it's cracked up to be. And just when things couldn't get any worse, Brian's life is shattered by a family tragedy.

A ray of hope enters Brian's life when he befriends "Half-Step" Wilson (Lou Myers, Bulworth, Tin Cup), a former star of the Negro Baseball Leagues who is now the resident curmudgeon of a local nursing home. Their unlikely friendship gives Brian a whole new perspective on life, as he learns that there is more than one way to "make it big".

This critically acclaimed, heartwarming and hilarious film also stars Judith Ivey (Devil's Advocate), Joe Barbara (TV's "Another World"), and features Jaid Barymore (The Last Days of Disco) in the story about one young man who needed just a little help finding his dream.
