Salaam Aleikum!

It gives me great pleasure to bring you with me
on a virtual trip to
Morocco!
From here you have different possabilities of coming with me to the fascinating country Morocco on the West Coast of Africa.
I show you lots of pics from more or less exciting places, introduces you to some of my friends and tries to explain why I love that country so much.

I've had complaints about this home page being too big. No wonder! If you think that you can look this through in a couple of minutes, you most likely will be proven wrong. My advice to you is that you have a quite powerful computer, since there are many pics. There's so much I want to show you...
Because this IS a rather big home page...

I go to Morocco as often as I have a chance. I like that country very much for many reasons. One of the main reasons, of course, is to enjoy the sun and the warmth.
Going with charter from Sweden means that you automatically gets to Agadir on the west coast of Morocco. That's where most of all tourists go. That city is very much depending on all us foreigners, and the bigger and luxurious hotel after the other is built.
But I love the beautiful arabian architecture that has influenced the South European way of building houses for centuries, the exciting culture that is so different from the Western way of living, the fascinating environments in the cities, the beautiful nature with the high mountains in the North and huge plains in the South.

There is so much to see and experience in Maroc!
The traditions and way of living, and even way of thinking, that are so different from what I'm used to, but want to learn about and try to understand.

The feeling of being invited to a Moroccan family for dinner; to sit on the floor around the table, eating from a bowl of Cous-Cous (remember just to use your RIGHT hand!) and drinking the green tea after, knowing that you probably are the only European in the neighbourhood...That feels a bit like a reward. They have accepted me that much, even though I'm a foreigner and don't speak their language or know exactly how to behave. But they have given me a chance to learn!

Staying over night in a friends house in the countryside, sleeping on the hard sand floor with only a blanket to protect you from the coldness from the desert, with no electricity, no water, no real closet, nothing as you as a European are used to - and far from the comfort of the hotel...

With open eyes you have a chance to experience so much more than the average tourist. Well back at home you realise what a luxurious life you live, and appreciate what you have taken for granted before so much more. Pouring hot and cold water, electricity, telephone, a comfortable bed, computer...

Yet this, to me, exotic world is not more than five hours away from my home in Stockholm, Sweden....
During the last week before and the first of Ramadan, in November/December 2000, I made the 8th trip there. My Moroccan friends now call me halv arab, not only because I've been there so many times, but also because I think in a not always european way...
These pages are a collection of pictures and "adventures" over the years.
