Building/Environment: Modern Portakabin
Access: Through Main Hospital, on the 5 th floor access via green door, past lifts!
Decor: Newly decorated, the blank expanses of wall are a bit dull!
General Cleanliness: Average, there is sometimes litter on the floor, or the floor is sticky.
Ventilation: Air conditioning, but not unit controlled so very hot in summer , very cold in winter! Openable window's which have little effect! They are also high up, so you can't look out with out standing on a chair!
Parking: Good free parking!
Size of Unit: A large unit with a large coverage area!
Number of stations: 20'ish!
Number of Patients (if known): around 80 patients
Space Assigned to each patient: The space for your chair and machine plus a few feet!
Shifts: 2 Shifts morning and afternoon
Patient Facilities:
Waiting Area: Newly & pleasently decorated, contains seating, RPA noticeboards, and magazines for patients to read.
Lockers: Adjoining the waiting room, not enough lockers for the number of patients! Require £1 to operate, returnable!
Recreational: None
Toilets: 2 fully adapted for the physically disabled, usually clean. No patient shower.
Kitchen: Basic tea and coffee making facilities, not encouraging for patient/visitor use!
Visitors: No real facilities, they share with staff & patients!
Food: No hot meals, sandwiches, prepacked, usually arrive late! Toast for the morning patients. Staff are usually happy to purchase food from the cafeteria on the patients behalf.
Patient Support Services, (availability of):
Doctors: Usually available, although a short wait is usually necessary. The consultant will see patients if he is there and is requested.
Social Worker: No support
Dietitian:No support
Pharmacy: Will prescribe most drugs that are needed urgently or are 'blacklisted' by GP's!
Counselor: No support
Out of Hours Support: None, referal by GP.
