The Darker the Night
When we are faced with tears and pain
When storms clouds come and bring the rain
When death comes calling, no appointment made
We cry “oh God”, come to our aid.
When we’re attacked, with hated breath
When families torn with loss and death
When hearts ripped out and spirits crushed
We want revenge, we won’t be hushed.
We feel the pain, we cry, we stare
We cry to God, its just not fair
We try to think, to understand
How could this happen to our land
We’re numb, can’t sleep, just shake our head
Did this really happen or a nightmare instead.
“Why” we ask to our Father in prayer
When we needed you, you were not there
To protect us with your power from above
And show to us a Father’s love.
He’s there, He knows, so do not fear
He only wants to hold you near
He brings no evil, only the good
Or protects you from life, let it be understood
In a darkened room, in a darkened life
That is filled with pain and loss and strife
Remember this, the darker the night
The better we’re able to see His light.
