This site is a compilation of sources and research on several prominent families who lived in the Jerseyville, Illinois, United States area during the 1800's. Although I am not related to these families, I became interested in them during my genealogical research. The lives of my ancestor, John Connelly, and Prentiss D. Cheney became intriquely entwined during the Civil War. Their stories, and the affected lives of their families are presented here. It is an interesting study in how one event in time can radically affect the lives of thousands of people over the centuries...
