During our break at band practice, Marilyn always has something yummy to go with coffee. I don't know about ya'll, but one of my other favorite things besides pick'in bluegrass, is eating good food. ( I don't think I've ever refused a cup of coffee either.) I have included two of our favorites for you to try at home: |
MARILYN'S APPLE CRISP 6 Apples (Cortland) 3/4 cup flour 1 cup sugar 1/8 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. ground cloves 6 tblsp. butter 1/2 tsp. cinnamin 1/4 cup chopped nuts (Walnuts) 2 tsp. lemon juice whipped cream Preheat oven 350 degrees. Peel and core apples. Add 1/2 cup sugar, spices, lemon juice. Mix and pour into buttered 1-1/2 qt. casserole dish. Blend other 1/2 sugar, flour, salt and butter to a crumbly consistency. Add nuts and sprinkle on top. Bake approximately 45 minutes. NOTE from Jack: I have added oats and 1/2 tsp. of nutmeg and it was good but the original recipe was still the most slamm'in!! |
MARILYN'S COOKIE RECIPE SYLVIA'S COOKIES 1 lb.butter, softened 3 cups oats 1 cup sugar 3 tblsp. vanilla 2 cups flour 1 cup ground peacans Cream together butter and sugar. Add flour. Add oats, vanilla and peacans. Roll into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet - flatten balls with a floured drinking glass bottom. Bake in 350 degree oven for 12 - 15 minutes. Cool & dust with powdered sugar. NOTE from Jack: We have been eating them unpowdered and topped with vanilla ice cream and it is so good, it's absolutely sinful. ENJOY!!! |

The Connecticut Bluegrass Music Association - New Website Check out the new site for the CBMA at <http://www.ctbluegrass.org/> The Connecticut Bluegrass Music Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and evolution of Bluegrass music in Connecticut and the surrounding area. Our goal is to promote Bluegrass music through the underwriting of live performances and through educational projects - such as introducing Bluegrass into the music curriculums of schools throughout the state. We also look forward to working with other Bluegrass and acoustic music associations, artists, radio stations and record companies in the New England area and beyond. We want to provide the Bluegrass audience with top quality shows - great music, great sound, great setting, and a helpful staff of volunteers to make the experience the best it can be for every audience member. |
