Genie Francis Intimate Portrait Photo Gallery
Genie Francis's Intimate Portrait aired originally on November 5th, 2001, on Lifetime. She discussed mostly the pain in her life, the pain of her drug addiction to alcohol and cocaine in her late teens while on General Hospital, the death of her father, having to grow up too soon, and so on. It was a very painful and emotional documentary of Genie, and in my personal opinion, I didn't enjoy it for several reasons.
It presented Genie's life on General Hospital as completely heartbreaking, which Genie has said on other interviews was a bittersweet memory. That of course the drug addiction was horrible, yet that her relationship with Tony Geary kept her alive as long as she was on the show, since he was the only one who knew what she was going through. This documentary seemed to focus far too much on the traumas and the pain in her life rather than the triumps, (did they discuss her Emmy nomination or her successes in other areas?) or the joy playing Laura has brought to her. They left so much out of Genie's life that it really cheated a biography of her in my opinion.
