A positive life experience for children and adolescents with complex heart defects!

The mission of Camp Braveheart is to create a positive life experience for all children with complex heart defects through a camping program that promotes:

  • Self esteem

  • Socialization among peers

  • Support from other families dealing with complex heart defects

  • So much fun!

 
 

Camp Braveheart salutes the children and adolescents who have preservered through complex heart surgery and transplantation. The camp organizers recognize that these are normal children, only with special needs that must be met with much care and consideration. When given normal childhood opportunities like Camp Braveheart, these children gain the skills necessary for personal growth and development well beyond the scope of the camping program.

Traditionally held during the first weekend in October, at Camp Willoway in Winder, Georgia, Camp Braveheart is organized by volunteers from the medical profession and the community. These individuals give their time, talents and resources to create a magical weekend for these special children. Camp attendance is free for all campers.

Camp Braveheart is sponsored by the Children's Heart Foundation, Inc., which was created in 1994 by Kathy and Roger Flynn. As parents of a young child with complex heart defects, they were inspired to make a difference in the lives of other children with similar medical challenges. Camp Braveheart is a place where children come together for fun, friendship and memories. We are all in this together!
