The Depot

The home of the Housatonic Railroad

Housatonic trains have been my hobby since I was very young. Their engine numbers are 3600, 3601, 3602, 3603, 3604, 7324 and 9935. Number 9935 is Housatonic's oldest engine. It doesn't run any more. Number 7324 is ther newest engine. The Housatonic railroad has been around since 1840 when it once ran to Niagra Falls. The old turn table, which was used to turn the train engine around, used to be located where the hydroelectric plant is now located in Falls Village.

The picture above shows the Railroad Depot. Unfortunately some kids got bored this past year and decided to set fire to it, destroying the entire east-west structure ( left side ). They destroyed a fine piece of local history and a proud local landmark.
