Sunday morning I sent an email to some of my friends saying "Still here..." I was bored and it was hot out, so we went to the wave pool. After I got out Sunday noon, I had to visit the washroom and after totally emptying my bladder, a warm flow came out during a big contraction, so I wasn't sure if my water had broken (like in my first labor) or whether I just peed more. But anyways, I decided to go the the hospital since I was having a bloody show. I ate my lunch first.

At the hospital (1:45pm) they hooked me up and examined my pad (which was dry) and decided to check my cervix. The one nurse totally couldn't reach it. Ouch! I thought she was going to jam a finger up my butt. By this point I was having contractions every six minutes or so, but just the type I'd been having off and on throughout the last few months.

Finally the doctor got there (a woman one on call that I'd wished I had in the first place) and she checked my cervix and it was 5cm. And contractions were every five minutes (3:00pm). She decided I was going into labor on my own and she didn't want to send me home. She gave me two options, one to break my water, the other to walk around and speed things up. I chose number one since there was still lots of water there. They figured I had just had a high leak. So they broke my water and contractions varied between 4 and 5 minutes.

At about 4:00pm they told me I could get up and walk around, so I went pee and when I came back out they informed me they were going to start me on the drip of oxytocin (just like last time). No! I hate that stuff! But I let them. So back to the bed I go and they started me on it at 4:20pm. Nurse kept turning it up and up because I was smiling too much. She wanted the peaks of my contractions to last longer. So labor probably started around 5:30pm. The same length as my first one (2 hours 12 minutes the first time). Anyways, the contractions were way more intense with this labor! I tried the gas for a couple contractions and gave that up as it sufficated me and didn't do any good! Plus I couldn't breath as I pleased. Roger was a great encourager! Everytime they checked me I was only 8-9cm dilated and they kept making me wait and that was the worst! I had the biggest urge to push and I think that's what made the contractions so painful! And she still turned up the drip. I could have strangled her! Finally the doctor came in and checked me and even though I was still the same dilation, she told me to push and you better believe I did! That contraction Vienna was born (7:33pm), looking angry and just like her big brother did. No stitches or tears! Except she had vernix all over her, unlike her brother. Dad cut the cord and they took her to the table and cleaned her up. She pooped right then. The doctor was disgusted that the nurse made me wait that long to push. I delivered the placenta. I nursed Vienna right away and then they took her for her bath.

The differences this labor are:

*nicer nurse first time
*Nicholas was born all bloody and Vienna was dry
*With Nicholas I had to have the placenta removed manually and had lots of clotting after
*Pushed for about 20 minutes the first time compared to a couple pushes this time
*With Nicholas the noise composed of ow as the baby's head crowned. This time it was ow ow ow ow ow for most of it.
*Both babies pooped as soon as they were born
*two stitches up inside on my labia last time, this time none!

Similarities:

*Same length labor *Water broke before *Pitocin augmented
*Vienna was born in the same delivery room as Nicholas was! I thought that was really neat...especially since it was so crowded. There were like 30 other babies born on the 24th at my hospital.

Oh ya, my IV fell out after and the nurse (a different one) told me it was in there wrong. The fluid was going into my tissues instead of my vein. So I had tingling all up my arm and in my neck and got a huge headache from it. So I had to take a tylenol :)

I think that's it.
