Making The Most Out Of The Program Book

We have a parent or leader mark in the Brownie Book what each girl accomplishes each week (you could also do for Guides, although the stickers might not be cool for that age group). Parents seem to enjoy helping with this job.

When something is marked in a program book we check it off on our record as well so we know we've entered it in their book.

We colour the mushroom orange when completed and place a related sticker beside it, writing the date. Sometimes we might write a note such as "did on hike" or "brought friend to Brownies", "or mom helped do at home".

If we do something that also counts towards part of an outlook, we highlight the part it covers such as PART A or B etc. You'd be amazed at how many things in the windows count towards outlooks. We put a note as to what was done and the date. We also put a related sticker in the area.

Brownies will often work on the balance of an outlook at home when they see that 1 or 2 parts are already done. It is a real incentive. It also helps parents to see what their daughters are doing at Brownies and encourages the girls to attend so they don’t miss their sticker! It helps them see how they are getting closer to completing particular windows/outlooks. Parents & Brownies seem to really enjoy the books more when they are used this way. We go to the Sandy Lion factory in Markham Ontario for stickers. It is a great place to purchase a variety at incredible bargins.
