TIP: HOW TO MAKE MORE USE OF THE GIRLS PROGRAM BOOK
One thing that we have been doing for quite a few years now is make more use of the Brownie Program Book.
We have a parent or leader mark in the Brownie Book what each girl accomplishes each week.
We colour the mushroom orange when completed and place a related sticker beside it, with the date. Sometimes we might write a note such as "on hike" or "brought friend to Brownies". If we do something that also counts towards part of a window, we highlight the part it covers such as PART A or B etc. and put a note as to what was covered and the date. We also put a related sticker in the area.
Parents & Brownies love this! See our parent survey for comments on this practice.
Brownies often will work on the balance of an outlook at home when they see that 1 or 2 parts are already done. It also helps parents to see what their daughters are doing at Brownies and encourages the girls to attend so they don’t miss their sticker! It helps them see how they are getting closer to completing particular windows/outlooks.
We go to the Sandy Lion factory in Markham Ontario for stickers. It is a great place to purchase a variety at incredible bargins.
It seems a shame for parents to purchase the book and not see it being used and enjoyed by their Brownie. If you have any other ideas about using the book, please email me at.
