Giving Back

As witches, we live by the rule of three. Any good you do, as well as bad, will come back times three. I firmly beleive that if people have the ability, talent and time they should give to the community. And I don't just mean donating canned food to the food pantry on Thanksgiving. I mean, finding something you beleive in, support, and make you proud to give.
As a reporter, I have the advantage to deal with hundreds of press releases each week. (Well, sometimes they become a big mess on my desk, but that's the way it works!) And especially because I am a Features reporter, I see a lot of releases for charities and organizations, walks, fundraisers and dinners. My heart goes out to them, because all the causes are noble. I promised the Goddess if I made a million dollars, I would give to them all.
I am happy to get involved in the community, as an individual and through my group, Celestial Grove of the Goddess. The following links are organziations and causes I support and have taken part in. They're all different: some deal with diseases, others for kids, and some religious. I think humans have such a gift to touch each other's lives, regardless of faith. As a witch, I am proud to make a positive impact, and I hope that as witches and pagans become more visible in the community, we too will be a driving force of positive energy.

Wigs For Kids

A not-for-profit organization providing hair replacement solutions for children affected by hair loss due to chemotherapy, alopecia, burns and other medical conditions.

I cut off 11 inches and donated it! If you're considering a drastic change, please consider helping little ones.

ALS Association

A national not-for-profit voluntary health organization dedicated solely to the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

My partner's mentor died of ALS last September, and there needs to be more research on this devestating disease.

Girl Scouts of America

The first organization dedicated soley to girls working together with committed adults to help the girls grow in body, mind and spirit.

I've found time to help lead writing workshops in creative writing, journalism and public relations to help older scouts get badges. It's pretty cool!

The Blood Center

Giving blood is truly sharing life. 100,000 units of blood are needed by patients each year. Donors give 60,000 units ... less than 4% of the people in the midwest are donors. Don't assume it will be there if you need it ... save a life today.
I made a commitment to donate every 3 - 4 months, which is average, and I would highly recommed it if you are healthy and can donate.

More is coming soon!
