There was a man and a woman so deeply in love,
Their marriage- so perfect it seemed unheard of.
Each day they would walk hand-in-hand in the park,
And they sat and they talked under a tree until dark.
During a cold and long winter night,
They snuggled by the fire and held each other tight.
The man surprised his darling everyday,
By expressing his love for her in a brand new way.
One time it was flowers covering the floor,
And another was a love note taped on each door.
The woman displayed her affection too,
With warm, loving welcomes when his work was through.
She hugged and kissed him when he entered the home,
And then they would sit down to supper alone.
Each night when they'd retire to bed,
They would pray and thank God for all that they had.
They planned out a future with a child in it too.
Whom they'd love and would teach all that they knew.
Their lives seemed so great with no faults at all,
Until one day when the woman got a call.
Her husband was injured after saving a boy,
Who had run into the street while chasing a toy.
The woman was told that before he was dead,
"Look in my toolbox" was the last thing he said.
She looked in the toolbox and took out a note.
And her tears overflowed as she read what he wrote.
"My dear love there's so much that I wish to say.
For if you are reading this, then I've passed away.
I can only imagine your sorrow and pain,
Now that your sunshine's been covered by rain.
I remember the first time I laid eyes on you.
You were complaining 'cause of your broken shoe.
I carried you down the stairs to your room
Six months later...I was a groom.
You were an angel sent from God above,
A beautiful display of His endless love.
I was filled with such joy that it started to seem,
That it couldn't be real. It must be a dream
You have always been and forever will be,
A beautiful, sweet loving princess to me.
I have loved you with all that I had to give,
And now without me you must learn to live.
I'll be waiting in heaven for that day when,
We will always and forever be together again.
Thank you for loving me and sharing your life.
You are everything a man could want in a wife.
I have one last surprise to show my devotion.
It's sure to ease this painful emotion.
You'll receive it from my very best friend,
But now, I'm afraid this letter must end"
The woman collapsed on the bed and wept.
It wasn't 'till morning that she finally slept.
The best friend arrived the next day and he said,
"Your husband was always thinking ahead."
He gave her a card and an angel with one wing,
And with it came a gold diamond ring.
She looked at the angel and thought very hard.
Then a smile appeared as she read the card.
"We're all one-winged angels who belong in the sky,
And we all must rely on each other to fly!"
