GINGERBREAD BISCUITS An excellent Gingerbread recipe: 4 oz butter |
Method
1. Cream fat and sugar until very soft.
2. Work in dry ingredients.
3. Mix with a little warmed syrup, and add
warmed syrup gradually until the mixture forms a fairly stiff dough.
4. Knead a little until dough sticks together.
5. Roll out on a floured board.
6. Cut out the shapes, put on a greased
tray or baking parchment. (Optional: currants can be added for eyes/coat buttons.)
7. Bake in a moderate oven (350 deg F, Mark
4) for 10 or 15 minutes.
8. Allow to cool slightly before lifting
on to a wire tray.
9. Optional: when cold, decorate with white,
glace icing.
