Mairelon the Magician
By Patrica C. Wrede
This was a good book, but it was very slow. It was interesting,
a good story, and well written. It just didn't interest me as her other
books did. It did have a very good ending. I am rating this book in the
middle, I give it a three.
Mairelon is a wizard pretending to be a street
magician. Kim is a street thief, disguised as a boy for her own protection,
who is paid to search Mairelon's wagon and winds up working for him. The
Saltash Platter is the excuse -- part of a silver service with a special
spell cast upon it. And the reader gets to sit back and watch while everyone
within three counties tries to steal it simultaneously. The ending is hillarious,
when just about every character mentioned in the book meets together and
we learn who did what!
