The First Thing We're Going to Do is To Shatter a Common Belief, . . . . . . . . . and Show You That - - - -


THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS COLD.


WHAT ???


(I Thought You Said You Were Ready ! )


I Said . . . . THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS COLD.

To Think That There IS constitutes a WRONG WAY OF THINKING,
And Has UnDesirable Consequences !

At This Point You're Saying to Yourself,
"I Knew This Guy Sounded Kinda Crazy, He's Probably a Virus Code Writer, I Gotta Leave This Page, NOW!"

Well, If you do that, you'll miss some important facts.
The Reason I Say There is NO Such THING as Cold, is the Same Reason that There is NO Such THING as Darkness.

Darkness is Not a THING, it is Merely The ABSENCE of Light.

And There is NO Such THING as COLD, Itself, Because Cold is Just Our Way of Expressing
THE ABSENCE OF HEAT.

Now DON'T RUN OFF THINKING THAT I'M SPLITTING HAIRS AND THAT THIS PLAYING OF WORDS IS MEANINGLESS, Because That's ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE.

Especially in the Case of Cold and Heat, Because a Lack of Understanding them Causes Many People to LOSE HEAT IN MANY WAYS.
When Someone Says "Close the Door, You're Letting the Cold In!" They are Absolutely Wrong and Don't Understand Thermodynamics.
You Can't LET COLD IN, Because . . . Why? . . . Because There IS NO Such THING as Cold!

COLD NEVER COMES IN ! . . . . HEAT ESCAPES !!!

And That is IMPORTANT To Know in Battling the "Cold". Because Really, We are Never BATTLING the COLD, But Attempting NOT TO LOSE HEAT.

Now, What I'm Going to Say Next is the FACT That I WANT YOU to REMEMBER Out of ALL this LollyGagging Around I'm Doing :

COLD NEVER MOVES ANYWHERE BECAUSE COLD DOESN'T EXIST. - HEAT MOVES ! - HEAT FLOWS IN OR HEAT ESCAPES ! And COLD is Just a WAY OF DESCRIBING an area with Little or No HEAT !

AND WHAT IS HEAT ?

Ah, Now We Are Getting Some Where ! !

HEAT is one of the most Mysterious Forces of Nature.
Webster Does a Pitiful Job of Defining it . . . . .Using Circular Logic, with such statements as: "1.The Condition of Being Hot."........(I'm not kidding! Go to http://www.m-w.com and look for yourself) And: "Energy that causes Substances to Rise in Temperature."(isn't that saying "Something That Makes Things Hot" ??)And Finally --"the energy associated with the random motions of the molecules, atoms, or smaller structural units of which matter is composed." Oh Yeah ! That Tells Us a LOT ! ! ! Although that's a little Closer.

HEAT IS A MYSTERIOUS FORCE, LIKE GRAVITY, BUT ALMOST OPPOSITE OF GRAVITY, IN THAT IT CAUSES ATOMS AND MOLECULES TO MOVE FASTER AND FURTHER APART. Gravity Causes Things to Move Closer Together and to Slow Down, Even Stopping The Movement of Atomic Particles and Light Itself ! (as in the Theoretical Black Holes). But Heat Causes Atoms to Move Faster, Whizzing Further Apart as Their Speed Increases. And Scientists Understand VERY LITTLE About What This FORCE Is ! Probably as Little as They Understand About Gravity ! We Only Know That HEAT IS A FORCE THAT EXCITES ATOMS ! A Force That Causes Atoms and Molecules to Move Faster, and to Move Further Apart. That's All We Know ! Except That This FORCE is Transferable. When Atoms Excited By the FORCE of Heat get NEAR other Atoms, They Become Excited Also ! And "Freak-Out" the Same Way ! Increasing Their Speed and Volume. HEAT IS A FORCE. We Know NOTHING About Where "Forces" Come From.

And there is NO FORCE known as COLD, Cold is Just "Wherever HEAT Has Left, or Never Was" or more accurately "The Condition in Which the Amount of HEAT Has Been Reduced."

So to Give a Practical Example:
The Next Time You Put You're Hands Under Your Arms or On Your Neck When They Are Freezing Cold, Realize That You Are Not Getting Rid of the Cold. You Are SUCKING THE HEAT OUT OF YOUR NECK OR ARM-PITS And That Can MAKE YOU SICK. It's Probably Better Than Frost-Bite if you are THAT cold, but Realize the Best Solution is to Get Heat From Another Source besides Your Body. . . . . But if You Must Rob Body Heat from One Place to Warm Another, It's Best to Take it From the Buttocks, Upper Thighs, or Love Handle areas Rather Than the More Vital Regions of Neck or Armpit.

And Realize That in Keeping Your House Warm, The Cold Air Can't Come in Unless the HEAT ESCAPES from your house. And HOT AIR (AIR CONTAINING HEAT). . . . RISES, . . . So your Best Strategy is to Insulate and SEAL the Higher Parts of your Home before the Lower ones.

And Food Doesn't GET COLD, . . . It LOSES HEAT, . . . . So Put Something Over it As Air-Tight as Possible, and of a Material that Doesn't CONDUCT HEAT, like Plastic or Styrofoam.
