TERMINATORS TEAM MOTTO (Cool WAV file!)
The Terminators Rotisserie Baseball Club knows how to put the fans in the seats and keep them happy: MEANINGLESS PROMOTIONS! This season alone, the Terminators will have 37 promotion days at TERMINATOR PARK, beginning with EGG SANDWICH DAY, where 10 lucky fans will find an egg sandwich taped under their seat, and ending the season with PICTURES WITH FRANK DAY, where all fans will be able to have their picture taken with TERMINATOR PARK'S own grizzled groundskeeper Frank. Frank has promised to shower prior to the game, much to the chagrin of the WE LOVE DIRTY FRANK FAN CLUB.
Larry Johnson is co-founder of the Central Jersey Rotisserie League, along with his cousin Debbie Streckenbein of the DNTs. For the first two seasons, Larry was a partner with Debbie as co-owner of the DNTs (Dead National Treasures--see DNT's page). Although the DNTs were CJRL league champions during those first two seasons, an issue came up that was so divisive it forced the two to go their separate ways--whether or not to keep Andres Galarraga. Debbie thought the "Big Cat" had some pop left, and Larry didn't (the "Colorado factor" was not well-known back then). So Larry formed the Terminators, and the rest is history!
The Terminators began life in the CJRL with an expansion draft that included the Cassville Crew and Howie's Halos. All eligible players from the three teams that left the league after the previous season--the Reel Heels, the Fabulous Baker Boys, and the Deadheads--were available in the expansion draft. Key pick-ups in the expansion draft for the Terminators were Greg Maddux and John Franco.
The big trade for the Terminators during their first season was acquiring Craig Biggio ($5.50) and Al Osuna from the Ladykillers for Chuck McElroy (had that "potential closer" tag at the time!) and Ed Taubensee. Worst trade of the season for Terminators was sending Billy Swift (injured at the time-- big surprise), Barry Larkin (also injured), and a fading out Kal Daniels to the Ladykillers for Steve Finley, who had not found a power stroke yet. Swift went on to have a solid year and a half for the Ladykillers, and Larkin was traded for a couple of decent players at the end of the season.
Good bye from the Terminator!(Another cool WAV file!)
In "real life", Larry is a high school counselor, former high school Business Education and Technology teacher, and also coaches freshman football. His many blessings in life include a wonderful wife named Kathy and two wonderful children: a son named Josh who is 4 years old and a daughter Julia who is 15 months old. Larry's other interests (is there anything other than rotisserie baseball?) include weightlifting, reading, playing sports, watching the stock market, and web-surfing!
