BIG UNIT ENDS UP A LADYKILLER

Much like Todd Zeile and Mike Piazza's careers as Florida Marlins, it was only a matter of time before Randy Johnson's tenure as a member of the Razmataz would come to an end. On August 16, Don Gasparro and Dave Searle, owners of the Razmataz, sent Johnson and his $35.00 contract to the Ladykillers for rookie pitcher Dennis Reyes and long-time prospect Paul Wilson. Garrett Stephenson also went to the Ladykillers to complete the deal.

Due to his large contract, Johnson will also only be a Ladykiller for about 6 weeks, unless Ladykillers owner Bob Taylor can come up with the right incentive package and a large amount of draft dollars at next year's CJRL Auction Draft. Taylor stated "We got the Unit to make it to second place, period. Look at the standings already, my strategy is working. If (Randy) Johnson wants to play for one of those big-spending clubs next year, like the Terminators or DNT's, so be it. If that's his attitude, we don't need him anyway." Upon hearing these comments, Randy Johnson replied "I don't know where Taylor gets off, talking about me as if I'm just a commodity, just a rent-a-player. I'm also human, and he hurt my feelings." Johnson then broke into tears.
RACE FOR SECOND PLACE HEATS UP

With first place all but won by the DNT's, the real race to watch is for second place through fifth place. As of August 23, the Ladykillers have tied the Terminators for second place with 68 points each. The Peacekeepers are right behind with 67.5, followed by the Spiders with 67.

New this season is that sixth place is also a prize spot. Four teams are fighting it out for this spot, with 5 points separating the current sixth place Devil Dogs with 58 points, the Cassville Crew with 55.5, and the Hayley's Heroes and Knuckle Knockers both tied with 53.
ALLENSWORTH TAKES WILD RIDE

Jermaine Allensworth has logged many freguent-flyer miles in the CJRL this season. Allensworth was drafted by the No-Names during Auction Draft Day. Then a couple of months later, Allensworth was traded to the Kansas City Royals by the Pirates. Since the CJRL is National League-only, the No-Names were forced to waive Allensworth. Then, just as Allensworth was unpacking the rest of his suitcases, he was traded again across leagues, this time to the New York Mets.

The No-Names, still saddened by the departure of "Jammin'" Jermaine, immediately called for the outfielder. Unfortunately for No-Names owner Dave Wilson, the Joanne Rogers of Hayley's Heroes also called. However, Wilson won the FAAB sealed bid $5.00 to $1.00. Then, much to everyone's surprise, Wilson waived the newly reacquired Allensworth to make room for Freddy "Boom Boom" Garcia.

All in all, "Jammin'" Jermaine Allensworth has logged many miles this season, and is probably due for a tune-up and oil change.
