2000 Auction Draft Day a Success
The 2000 Auction Draft was a big success. This was our 11th CJRL Auction Draft, and there was a lot of excitement, two new teams, and also some familiar faces from CJRL past. We finished in 5 1/2 hours thanks to the expert auctioneering of Phil Chodroff. Thanks are in order to Phil for doing such a great job. Thanks are also in order to Joe Schott and his family for having us at their home for the draft. I would also like to thank former No-Name Dave Wilson for helping out as the drafter for the Knuckle Knockers, and former Pulverizer John Michael Piorkowski for helping his sister-in-law Joanne of Hayley's Heroes. Check out the 2000 Draft Pics which will be coming soon!
Remember, transactions can be made from 8:00 a.m. until midnight beginning Sunday, April 9. Bob, Mike, and Larry will be taking turns as the League Secretary. Bob is doing the month of April, and his phone number for making transactions has been emailed to all team owners. When you call, be sure to leave 1) name of player you are dropping (and how you are dropping him--waive, reserve, DL), 2) name of player you are picking up, 3) your team name, 4) date and time of your call. Remember, the "effective date" of your transaction (the day you begin to accumulate a players stats) is the day after you called for the player.
***In an emergency, you may call Larry as a back-up***
Remember, transactions before the All-Star Break are $2.50; after the All-Star Break they are $5.00. A schedule of who is the League Secretary and their phone numbers will be sent out as soon as it is finalized.
Good luck to George and Chris who are both new team owners.
Rule Changes for 2000
We are going back to the 8:00 a.m. to midnight calling of transactions. The only difference involves players traded over from the American League or called up from the minors. These players cannot be called for until the day after they appear in a major league game. For example, if Pat Burrell is called up on April 20, but doesn't play until April 23, he cannot be called for until April 24. His effective date would be April 25. Proof of appearing in a game will be evidenced by a box score.
First FAAB Bid goes to DNTs
Debbie Streckenbein of the DNTs outbid Bob Taylor of the Ladykillers for Craig Paquette $1.00 to $0.75. Look for the "FAAB Budget Totals" and the "Sealed Bid Results" pages in our "League Business" section to be updated very soon.
