The 2000 CJRL Auction Draft was held at Joe Schott's house in scenic Jackson, New Jersey. The league appreciates Joe's family allowing us the use of their home once a year. We claim to be the only rotisserie league with a pig running around during the draft!

Phil, brother of Mike (Peacekeepers), was the auctioneer, and did a great job. He kept the pace up and we finished in record time, without losing any of the fun that is Auction Draft Day. Two former CJRL owners joined the festivities by drafting for team owners who could not make the draft. Dave, formerly of the No-Names, drafted for Mike of the Knuckle Knockers who was still overseas in the service. As he did last season, John Michael, formerly of the Pulverizers, drafted for his sister-in-law Joanne of Hayley's Heroes. Joanne moved to North Carolina last year.

Draft photo You know it will be a long night when a team owner needs to borrow projected player values from another owner. Mike of the Peacekeepers is such a nice guy!

Draft photo Chris of the Vipers is caught here phoning home. "Honey, did I leave my copy of Baseball Weekly on the coffee table?"

Draft photoHere is Auction Draft Day host, Cassville Crew owner Joe, asking Bob of the Ladykillers to leave after Bob spilled dip all over Joe's copious notes.

Draft photo Hard work. That's what separates Debbie of the DNTs from the other team owners involved in Rotisserie Baseball. She analyzes, compiles, and does the Curly Shuffle to help improve her team.

Debbie of the DNTs is speaking to her uncle, Art of the Super Kings. Art is seen describing how he was attacked by a gorilla that done escaped from the zoo.

Draft photo The drawing of numbers from the hat. The preliminary event to the first pick of the draft. Here Larry of the Terminators is seen passing the hat around. Larry always volunteers for this important function. "I feel that the job needs to be done right", says Larry, "and also, someone always puts in five bucks and asks for Miller Lite."

Draft photo Here we see Debbie of the DNTs and new owner Chris of the Vipers doing some last minute preparation. Next season it is hoped that Chris does not decide to take a cat nap and be over an hour late!

Draft photoWow--the heart and soul of Moorestown. Here Tim of the Spiders and Larry of the Terminators are feeding Chris of the Vipers some much needed information--MISINFORMATION!

Draft photo"What do you mean Chico Walker is unavailable in the draft?"

Draft photoCaught in the act! Tim of the Spiders was caught slipping an undisclosed amount of cash to Phil the auctioneer. Maybe that's why there were all those quick counts when the Spiders were bidding. Here we see Tim discussing his legal options with his brother and partner Bill. It has been rumored that the CJRL has the Spiders on Double-Secret Probation!

Draft photoIn front of Phil the auctioneer is what the game is all about: The Chico Walker Memorial Trophy. It is awarded annually to the champion of the CJRL.

Draft photo

The CJRL--the only league with a pig running around during the draft! You gotta love that!

Draft photoMike of the Peacekeepers has the most immitated but never duplicated bidding method. As seen here, it usually involves a twisting of the tongue, followed by a lifting of both hands in the universal gesture for "OK". Unfortunately, Mike does this on each bid, and when he wins a player he follows with a loud "Yippee!". The Rules Committee of the CJRL is looking into legislation to stop Mike from doing this. He has vowed to fight these efforts all the way to Washington.

Draft photoProper preparation leads to a successful season. Those are words from Rotisserie Baseball legend Mike of the Knuckle Knockers. Dave, formerly of the No-Names and filling in for Mike of the Knuckle Knockers, is eagerly putting the Knuckle Knocker credo to work.

Draft photo Art of the Super Kings up to his old tricks again. His son, Larry of the Terminators programs the spreadsheet and brings the laptop. Art feeds Larry a free sub for information on Aaron Boone.

Draft photo Don of the Razmataz is waiting eagerly to put out Jose Vidro for bid. If only there was not a bidding war for Rey Ordonez and his powerful bat!

Draft photo Auctioneer Phil and Don of the Razmataz survey the situation early on in the draft. It is still daylight!

Draft photo Ah! Break time at last. Nothing like some nachos and soda to get those bidding juices flowing.

Draft photo Art of the Super Kings looking over the shoulder of Larry of the Terminators. No wonder Art bid on the same players Larry bid on.

Draft photo Ouch! No more of those chili peppers during break. DNTs owner Debbie and Terminators Larry used to be partners. If only Andres Galarraga hadn't broken them up.

Draft photo Taking a break from a nacho feast, Larry of the Terminators takes note that someone was speaking about long-time Terminator Carlos Perez. Larry could be heard offering Perez, "I'll give you Carlos for $3.00 and future considerations".

Draft photo Chris of the Vipers and Debbie of the DNTs share a chuckle while watching Sportscenter. It had just been announced that Kevin Brown was injured and would miss a month, just after Larry of the Terminators paid $7.50 for him. Thank goodness for the Disabled List.

Draft photo John Michael is hard at work drafting for his sister-in-law, Joanne of Hayley's Heroes. One has to wonder if he has a financial interest in the team. Full disclosure must be made under SEC and CJRL regulations. Larry of the Terminators is wondering what to do for shortstop. Mickey Morandini?! OUCH!!

Draft photo There is always a battle to plug in your laptop first at Auction Draft Day. To remedy this situation, the CJRL has payed a hefty sum to Joe of the Cassville Crew to upgrade his electrical capacity in his home.

Draft photoIt was a successful draft. Here brothers Bill and Tim of the Spiders wait for their turn to bid on Braden Looper. George of The Peoples' Team ponders whether or not to eat a pretzel. Snacks, friends, and rotisserie baseball--what a combination!
