DNTs photoThe DNTs, owned by Debbie Streckenbein, won the CJRL title in 1997 for an unprecedented fourth time! Debbie is one of the original eight CJRL teams, and she also won the title for the first three years of the CJRL's existence. The first two were as a partnerhip with current Terminators owner Larry Johnson. The third she won on her own.

The season was picture perfect for the DNTs. Debbie built a solid nucleus of young, talented players during the 1996 season. The Auction Draft for 1997, as most CJRL team owners will admit, was also a big success for her. Picking up a pitching staff stocked with premier starters such as Shane Reynolds, Joey Hamilton, and Alex Fernandez fit in well with her previous starters Curt Schilling ($0.25!) and Shawn Estes ($1.75!). She also had a young closer in Billy Wagner of the Astros, not to mention a super pick-up during the early part of the season of Rookie of the Year candidate Rich Loiselle of the Pirates.

DNTs photoSome have been saying that this fourth championship may be the beginning of the end for the DNTs. As can be seen from the photo on the left, Streckenbein has become cocky. The buzz has been that everyone is gunning for Debbie and her favorite players--and we DO know who they are!
