1995 CJRL CHAMPIONS!

NO-NAMES

No-Names photoThe No-Names, owned by Dave Wilson, finally took the CJRL title in 1995. One of the original eight CJRL teams, the No-Names have been known as a team that was always "in the money", but was not able to hold the top spot until this season. In the first two years of the CJRL, the No-Names finished as close to the top as you can get without winning. In 1990, they finished third, missing a first place tie with the DNTs and the Foulks' Follies by only two points! At the end of the 1991 season, the No-Names were even closer, this time missing a first place tie with the DNTs and the Super Kings by only one point!

The No-Names is not a team that goes without some mystery, and a little bit of controversy. It all started with the secret "silent partner", a partner that Wilson has not divulged the identity of to this day. Rumor has it that the silent partner was Wilson's wife, and that Dave has since bought out her share of the partnership with the earnings from No-Names merchandise and television rights. There was also the possibility of a name change that caused such an uproar from No-Name fans that Wilson promptly changed his mind.

That championship season began on an average note with the No-Names holding fourth place after the week one stat report. Week two was the low point of the season, dropping Wilson's team to sixth place. However, that would be the only time for the rest of the season that the No-Names would be lower than fourth. After six weeks of the DNTs and Super Kings trading places in the top spot, the No-Names finally placed first on June 15, tied with the Super Kings. It was short-lived, with the Ladykillers taking first on June 22, and the Super Kings holding sole possession of first place for the next three weeks, while the No-Names bounced around between second, third, and fourth. Beginning on July 22, the Ladykillers held first place for six out of seven weeks, only interrupted by the Super Kings for one week. The No-Names reached second place on August 17 and held that spot for three weeks, before finally reaching first place again on September 7 and holding it for the final five weeks of the season. The final standings had the No-Names in first place, leading the second place Ladykillers by three points, 65 to 62.

The No-Names were dominant in the offensive categories in 1995, and did well in saves also. The following is the No-Names ending roster for the 1995 season:
