Northshore Stat Report

To access our stat report file, you must follow the listed steps below. The file will download to your computer and screen. It may take several minutes, depending on the speed of your modem, the speed of your computer, and the amount of traffic on the Internet at the time of download. The file is in DOS text format, and will need to be "cleaned-up" a bit before printing.

The first section contains GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS. The bottom of the file contains instructions specific for use with MICROSOFT WORD.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

To access the stat file, follow the steps below:

  1. Click HERE for the CJRL stat file.

  2. Enter our league ID# in the "Show Stats" box, then click "Show Stats".

  3. Once you have the stat file on your screen, you may save the file either to your hard drive or to a floppy disk. However, if you don't want to print or save the file, you can just scroll through it and view it without saving.

  4. To change the file into a format that is easier to read, you will need to use some type of word processing software, such as WordPerfect or Microsoft Word. Depending on what program you are retrieving the file into, you may need to tell the computer that you are converting the file from ASCII DOS TEXT. In WordPerfect for Windows 6.1, you need to convert the file from "ASCII (DOS) Text CR/LF to SRt". Other programs may use some variation of this phrase.

  5. To "clean-up" the file before printing/saving, I suggest doing the following:

COURIER NEW font is important because it is a "fixed-space" font, which means that the proportions of the letters, spaces, and other characters will stay the same, regardless of the font size you choose. You can experiment with the font size and the margins to your personal preferences.

You may access this file at any time, and print it if you choose to. However, you may wish to just look at the file as a daily update, as the weekly stat report will continue to be e-mailed every Thursday night.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MICROSOFT WORD

  1. Click HERE for the CJRL stat file.

  2. Type in our league number, which is found on top of previous stat reports, then click "SHOW STATS".

  3. When the file has loaded, click "File, Save As", then switch to the directory or floppy drive where you would like to save the file.

  4. Once the file is saved, open Microsoft Word.

  5. Open the file called "nssoft.pl". You will need to change "List files of type" to "All Files (*.*)" in the "Open" dialogue box.

  6. Once the file is open, click "File, Save As", and give the file a name. Before clicking "OK", make sure the "Save file as type" box says "Word Document". Use a filename of 8 letters or less, and do not use a period and three letter filename extension, as Word will automatically add ".doc" to the end.

  7. Change view to 150% to see the file better.

  8. Go to "File, Page Setup" to change margins on left, right, top, and bottom to 0.5".

  9. Go to "Edit, Select All", then change font to Courier New, and font size of 6.

  10. Insert and/or delete page breaks and blank lines to set up the document to your taste.

  11. Go to "File, Save As" and save the file once more before printing.

  12. Print the file.
