SYDNEY 112 - Townsville 108

Despite a 49-point performance from Simon Kerle, the Kings prevailed in the Sydney Entertainment Centre contest. The Suns rallied from 10 points adrift at intermission to level the score five times during the fourth quarter. But Aaron Trahair and Cameron Dickinson sealed the game for the Kings from the free throw line. "If anyone thinks it's a matter of turning up and winning I can assure you it's not happening," Sydney coach Alan Black said. "When we had a 13-point lead in the third quarter I thought we could have put them away but I was disappointed with our next four of five offensive plays and some careless turnovers."

Sydney: Burton 29, Bolden 20, Dickinson 16, Thomas 16, Trahair 15, Nielsen 7, Whitehead 5, Rosen 4.

Townsville: Kerle 49, Tyson 23, Rucker 17, De Ambrosis 11, Cameron 6, Kruger 2.
