New rules :

Tyres :

Every tyre company is allowed to bring three different wet tyres to a race (97 = unlimited). Max. 28 wet tyres are allowed to be used per car and weekend (same in 97) and 40 slick tyres per car and weekend (97 = 36 slicks).

Practice :

In the free practice sessions there is no limited amount of laps (1997 = 30 laps). Furthermore there will be no information practice on a new circuit on Thursday (like in Austria this year). If a car stops in Qualifying and needs help to get back to the pits his fastest lap will be taken away from him.

Start :

When the "5 minutes to go" sign appears before the start all wheels have to been on the car, or you have to start from the back of the grid. If it starts to rain after the 5 minutes to go sign, but before the start and the race stewards think the cars should drive on wet tyres, the start will be aborted and the 15 minute sign will be out again.

Technical changes :

Steering wheel :
A driver has to be able to get out of the car and to put the steering wheel back on in 10 seconds (97 = no time limit).
Onboard cameras :
Every car gets two onboard cameras or fake cameras. One is on top of the airbox.
Mirrors :
Minimal 5*12 cm big (97 = 5*10)

Pitlane speedlimit :

A driver has to pay 250 Dollar for every km/h that he is too quick in the pitlane.
