In an ugly game, Canberra prevailed despite shooting only 42 per cent from the floor. Mario Donaldson continued his good recent form, scoring 27 points for the victors, while Robert Rose charted all 22 of his points after the half. Butch Hays posted 21 points on 10-for-17 shooting for the Falcons before fouling out. Newcastle held a one-point lead entering the fourth, but Rose and Donaldson combined for 19 points down the stretch to thwart the road team.
