Girls Take Fourth for Varsity; Fifth for Junior Varsity at Warrior Invitational
Our Lady Warriors placed an impressive fourth out of 10 teams at our own Warrior Invitational. We had some pretty impressive results! Lisa Jamison turned in her best time of the season in route to a 11th place finish overall out of the 87 runner field. Lisa ran a 20:50 and decided to skip the 21:00's altogether. Her previous best time was a 22:05! Tawnie Bellamy was right on Lisa's shoulder running a 20:54. This is also the first time Tawnie has run under 21:00. Carla Murphy made her debut back on varsity by setting a personal best time of 21:26 (cutting 1:26 off her previous best time) and placing 25th overall. Not to be outdone by our top three girls, Heidi Habecker (21:56) ran in the 21:00's for the first time this season. Rebecca Romano took 19 seconds off her best time and toured the course in 22:26. Both Bethany Crabtree and Cara Cashour didn't have their best races, but Beth was only 40 seconds off her season best time running a 22:57 while Cara only off by 1 second (23:02). Well done girls!
In J.V. competition, out ladies took fourth out of 8 teams. There were 114 girls racing Wayne's fast course; Stephanie led the J.V. squad for the second race in a row. Her 22:52 was a personal best time and the first time she's ever run under 23:00. Eila Olson was side by side with Stephanie with the same time. Eila, however, took 56 seconds off her best ever. Lizzy Benson-Lindau took 29 seconds off her previous best time and broke the 24:00 barrier for the first time in her short career. Sally Maki continues to move up the "season best rankings" to 11th on the team overall. She took 1:57 off her time! Our next 5 girls all ran under 26:00 for the first time ever! They were Melanie Overton, Robyne Hawley, Nicole Simon, Emily Lewis, and Heather Channel. It just keeps getting better, because Brianne Crace ran a PB, while Amanda Goldschmidt took an outstanding 2:26 off her best time. Hillary Kemp ran in the 26's for the first time, while Jessica Knepp did so too! Chrissy Kohorst and Constance Channel ran 1 second apart, and both set their personal best times ever. Jaime Roberts decided not to run too far behind and trimmed 3:20 off her best time. That was the greatest drop in time of any girl on the team! Sara Miller and Cheryl Meyer both broke the 30:00 barrier for the first time! The ran 29:16 and 29:18. Katie McLin ran a 32:08. Katie still has a shot at that 30:00 minute barrier! Go for it Katie! Super job J.V. - - - Your Wayne Fans Are Proud Of Your Progress!

Runner-Up Trophy Goes to the Men's Varsity; J.V. Take Fourth At Home Invitattional
While coming off a victory at the Buck Creek Invitational just the previous Saturday, the men's varsity didn't let up much. They took 2nd place in a very strong field of both local and Cincinnati teams. Centerville (state ranked) took the team championship outdistancing everyone with an impressive 30 points. Conceding that, Wayne found itself in a head-to-head competition with Carroll. Good news; Wayne edged Carroll by 2 points. The highlights for the men's varsity team include 6 PB's and four men running in the 16's or 17's. We had an excellent pack of 4, 8, 12, and 16, but we won't fault Robbie Miller's 37th place finish. He was running his best time ever at 18:47 (9 seconds faster than his previous best). Mike Winghart had an impressive 4th place finish at 16:48. Mike was only 5 second behind 2nd place and 3 seconds behind 3rd. Brandon Baker was on fire this race! He took 21 seconds off his best time running a 17:13. It's very possible he will break the 17:00 barrier as a sophomore! "Amazing Michael" (a.k.a. Michael Murphy), just keeps coming on! He ran a 17:20, another 36 seconds off his previous best. What's so amazing about that? Well, Michael is a freshman who started the season running J.V. with a best time of 21:47. Any questions? Nick Mantia also ran a PB in the varsity race dropping his time by 26 seconds. You haven't peaked yet guys...keep it up!
In Junior Varsity action, our guys took fourth. Chris Young paced the J.V. and earned a spot back on varsity at the W.O.L. by running the 5th best time for the team. His 12th place finish out of 129 runners was not only impressive, but a personal best time as well. In fact, out of our 15 J.V. runners, 13 ran personal best times ever. Ryan Henry knocked 30 seconds off his time. Another noteworthy milestone came from Steve Bargo, Josh Combs, Bryan Schenck, and David Andrejcio. All these guys ran under 21:00 for the first time. Just remember guys, those times will look a lot sweater with a 19 in front of them. Zach Hitchcock took 23 seconds off his best time; Dennis Martin took 42 off his, while Kyle Trent took another 26 seconds off his time. Matt Cleveland, Mike Hagan, John Hoffman, and Tim Detmer also ran personal best times! Great job men!
