Girls Finish 8th Out of 16 Teams at Princeton. Jameson and Olson Move Up!

The Princeton meet was held the Wednesday after Mentor on the previous Saturday. There were some tired legs out there, but the team still managed a good showing placing 8 of 16 teams. Lisa Jameson wasted no time getting out early and setting a personal best time of 22:05. Bellamy was our second girl. Eila Olson deserves some press for this meet too. While some of the girls were struggling some, she moved forward to be our third girl. Cara Cashour also moved up to the fifth position. It's meets like this when others need to "step up" and take control. Nice job girls. (See reserve girls article further down on this page).

Athlete Place Team Pl Time
Lisa Jameson 22 1 22:05
Tawnie Bellamy 52 2 23:41
Eila Olson 55 3 23:48

Senior Tom Bertling Surges to Second Man on Team; Almost Breaks 18:00.

Although cross-country is a TEAM effort, it's nice to see our seniors perform well. Tom Bertling ran an 18:06 and looks ready to break the 18:00 barrier! Brandon Baker was right on his heels only 4 seconds back at 18:10. These two guys are pushing each other this year and will only help the team continue to improve. Winghart had a good race finishing 10th overall. He mixed it up well with some of our Cincinnati foes. His 17:03 inched him closer to breaking the 17:00 barrier (rembember my prediction of breaking 17:00 at Troy? Don't let me down Winghart!) Both Aaron Svisco and Robbie Miller ran better times than their Mentor performances. Nice job to those guys as well. The rest of the results are below.

Athlete Place Team Pl Time
Michael Winghart 9 1 17:03
Tom Bertling 62 2 18:06
Brandon Baker 41 3 18:10
Robbie Miller 71 4 19:23
Aaron Svisco 92 6 19:50
Ryan Henry 79 7 20:29
Nick Mantia 91 8 20:56

Freshman Michael Murphy Gains a Varsity Spot!

The reserve race brought some drama to the Princeton meet. Michael Murphy ran a 19:42, which was the 5th fastest time for the men. That gives Michael a shot at running VARSITY at the Troy meet.
