Lizzy and Stephanie Lead the Lady Warriors at John Bryan!

With the varsity 7 who qualified to run District sitting out to prepare for that race, the rest of Wayne's girls got the chance to be the "big dogs" at John Bryan. It didn't take Lizzy Benson-Landau long to take command of that attention. She was not only our NO.1 Warrior for the girls; she slashed 1:04 off her previous best time and ran a 22:37! That time ranks her as the 7th best time run by any of the girls this year. This may be Lizzy's last race of the season, but she will clearly be a contender for a varsity spot next season. Stephanie Helton was our 2nd girl across the line. She finished the season with the 8th best season ranked time. Helton has the fire in her eye for next season too! Go girl. And what can we say about Robyne Hawley! She cut another 44 seconds off her time to end her season with a PB of 24:17, which is 13th, ranked amongst all the girls' times. Okay, if you're not impressed with that, remember her first race of the season was a 34:57. Any questions? Recognition is due to Krissy Kohorst. She knocked 1:35 off her best time and moved from 21st to 16th on the team. Two other PB's were established at John Bryan. Those came from Cheryl Meyer, who took 4 seconds off her previous best. Senior, Sara Miller, also took advantage of her last race as a Wayne Warrior by taking 11 seconds off her best time. We are very proud of all our J.V. runners this year! You ran your hearts out constantly! We will especially miss our seniors: Sara Miller, Constance Channel, Heather Channel, and Hilary Kemp. May your roads ahead be clear of obstacles...but if there are ones, we know you will run through the challenges! Good luck always. (bc)

* * * Senior Aaron Svisco Top Runner at John Bryan * * *

The men's team had quite a few PB's for the last meet of the season. The following men established new personal best times for their careers; Corey Walls, David Andrejcio, Dennis Martin, Mike Hagan, John Hoffman, James Craig, Tim Detmer, and Kyle Trent. A special tip of the hat goes to senior Mike Hagan. He was our 9th man across the line. A final "good race" to senior James Craig too! Our top senior for this day however, goes to Aaron Svisco. Aaron was 42nd overall and led the entire J.V. team. We know it's not the race he wanted to be in, but Aaron never gives in. Thank you Aaron for the memories! (bc) Everyone needs to keep their eye on 2 freshmen who proved they are the rookies to watch for next year. Ryan Henry, who flirted with varsity this year should be a promising runner (with some off season miles), Corey Walls was our 3rd man at John Bryan taking about 1 minute off his previous time. His new time ranks him 11th on the team. We'll be looking for leadership from Zach Hitchcock next year too. He was our 4th man today. All the J.V. men were excellent contenders this year. You gave us many highlights (especially at Buck Creek). We're looking forward to seeing you all next season with war paint on and legs a blazin'.
