The periods will run as follows. Number of days includes only days where games are being played.
Wednesday, October 4 to Sunday, November 5 (33 days)
Monday, November 6 to Sunday, December 3 (28 days)
Monday, December 4 to Sunday, January 7 (33 days)
Monday, January 8 to Sunday, February 11 (31 days)
Monday, February 12 to Sunday, March 11 (28 days)
Monday, March 12 to Sunday, April 8 (28 days)
- EFHL teams will go head-to-head against each other each week. There will be 21 head-to-head matches for each team. All matches run from Monday through Sunday. If rescheduled games are added to any scheduled off day, they will be included in the closest week.
- Free agents are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Free agents acquisitions must be e-mailed to Grant (grantg@cais.com), preferably with a copy to Chris (gunz33@aol.com ) just in case there is a problem with e-mail. Phone calls or messages (to Grant) will also be accepted if necessary. You must specify the player to be dropped or reserved for the move to become effective. The player dropped or reserved must play the same position as the player picked up or the move does not become effective. You will be notified if you did not get a player you attempted to pick up. If you are making a move just before the deadline, it is advisable to include a second and maybe third choice in case your first choice has been taken (or you can call).
- Twenty moves are allowed per team. Moves go into effect the week immediately following notification. Therefore, to get a move into effect for the beginning of the week (Monday) you must notify Grant by the beginning of Monday’s games (watch out for the occasional Monday afternoon games). No moves for the current week will be accepted after the first game begins.
- Dropped players are not eligible to play again until one full week has passed. Dropped players will be noted on the weekly report. To pick up a player dropped the previous week, you must notify Grant by 8:00 pm Thursday of the next week. A drawing will be held for a player who more than one team wishes to acquire The early deadline will give the losing teams the opportunity to make another move. If no team attempts to pick up a dropped player by the deadline, then he can be picked up by any team after the deadline.
Example: Chris drops Larry Murphy on Tuesday, Nov. 7. From that point until the following Thursday (Nov. 16) at 8 pm, anyone who wishes to acquire Murphy should contact Grant. If more than one team is interested, there will be a drawing Nov. 16. The teams that lose in the drawing will be notified and will have time to make another move, if desired. If nobody claims Murphy by Nov. 16 at 8 pm, he can be claimed by any team.
- A move consists of any change to your active roster, for example, reserving a player and activating a reserve or adding a free agent to your line up while reserving one of your active players and dropping the reserved player. Therefore, it counts as a move if you change the status of an active player that you have just placed into your starting line up for the upcoming week. Dropping a reserve and picking up a free agent to reserve does not count as a move. All trades also count as one move, regardless of the number of players involved.
- Each team may put any number of players on injured reserve, provided that a player has missed or will miss at least one game due to injury. One move must be used to put a player on injured reserve and another to activate the player. When the player has played three consecutive games after coming back from injury, the player must be taken off injured reserve for the following week. He can be activated and another player reserved or dropped, which will count as one move. He can be reserved and a reserved player dropped, which will not count as a move. Or he can be dropped from the roster completely, which will not count as a move. If you do not contact Grant regarding a player that is required to come off injured reserve, he will be dropped from your roster. An attempt may be made to contact you, but the final responsibility to make the move is yours.
- The EFHL regular season will end Sunday, March 4, 2001, and six teams will make the playoffs. The first round is from March 5 to March 11. The second and third place teams in each division will play each other. The division winners receive a bye. The second round is March 12 through March 25. The winners in the first round will play their division winner. The EFHL finals will run from March 26 to the end of the NHL regular season (scheduled to be April 8). Moves can be made during the playoffs as in the regular season effective for each new week beginning on Mondays. All nonplayoff teams will not compete in any head-to-head action during this period. However, points earned will count towards total points and period prize money.
- Ties in regular season games will stand. Ties in the final regular season division standings (based on the number of wins) will be broken by total points. Note that a team at 18-4 beats out a team at 16-4-2. Remaining tiebreakers are head-to-head records, number of goals, and draft position (higher draft position is ranked lower). Ties in the first two rounds of the playoffs will go to the higher seed. A tie in the EFHL final will stand, resulting in co-champions, and available prize money will be split.
- Trades are allowed and encouraged. The trading deadline is Monday, February 12, 2000 at 7 PM. Trades count as one move regardless of the number of players involved. Trades do not necessarily have to be for the same number of players at each position or in total. However, if this occurs, then additional moves must be used to bring rosters to the required levels. Collusion among owners will not be allowed and the commissioner (Grant) has sole discretion to veto any trade or move that is unfair. Also, the commissioner retains the right to hold a vote among non-involved teams regarding the fairness of any trade or transaction. If a majority vote against it, the trade or transaction will be vetoed.
- A player dropped after the trading deadline is not eligible to be picked up by any other team through the remainder of the season if he is ranked among the top 30 forwards, top 20 defensemen, or top 10 goalies at the time he is dropped. Rankings will be based on average EFHL points per game for all NHL players.
- All teams must make a reasonable attempt to remain competitive regardless of their team's outlook. It is expected that players injured for any length of time will be replaced and then returned to the line up when appropriate. A lot of time is spent maintaining this league and I don't appreciate having league results affected by someone who can't maintain a full team.
- The decision of the commissioner in all disputes not specifically covered by these rules is final.
